At 10th overall, the jets would be best served to draft their longterm centre to play behind scheifele... Kyle Connor and Nick Ehlers are both signed longterm at left wing. Blake wheeler and Patrik Laine are their RWs for the foreseeable future... they need that second centre behind scheifele.
The other item on the off season grocery list should be a right side defenceman. At the left side they’re already deep with Morrissey, Heinola, samberg, stanley, Chisholm and niku.
Winning the draft lottery would be a bonus |

If the jets end up at 10 Unless Rossi is there I’d hope that Ottawa, New Jersey or Montreal (these three teams have probably 10-15 picks combined in rounds 1&2)
Want to trade up and offer us extra picks In either rounds one or two to just move down later in round one. I’d draft multiple centers |

It means either a rapid turnaround back into a playoff team if we get 1st overall, and a sad debut for a 21 year old walking into a full blown rebuild if we get 9th or 10th |

Oh, if you guys want size and skill for a 2C, we should go after a guy like Kevin Hayes.
He’s been awesome for Philadelphia |

I agree with Ross that there will be a lot of teams making offers to Ottawa. Mtl, and NJ and therefore lots of movement in the draft. Guys like Byfield are too high ranked for the Jets to have a shot. I like Sanderson on D and possibly Perfetti at Center.
A draft win means Laine ( no long term contract ) becomes very expendable as bait for a quality #2 center. That being said , getting a guy like Cole Perfetti at 9th or 10th could fit perfect with Ehlers and Laine in about 2 years. A tad small but a dynamo Center.
Exiting today but let's be realistic that it's really a 87.5 chance we don't get #1. Please just let it not be Edmonton or Pittsburgh...and hopefully not one of our nemesis teams in Nashville. |

Bad choice. He never fit well with the Jets number #2 line and there is no way he replaces Sheif on the top line.

Jets are not in full rebuild mode. Far from it. They need some tweaks such as the 2C and RD , and a better 4th line. Still, a very young team with lots upside and lots of cap space for UFA adds. |

In 3 years, they very easily could be. That’s why I said 21 year old. No way Maurice lets a kid outside the top 3 touch his lineup as a teenager |

A defensively responsible playmaker who can create space all by himself? Never fit |

I wonder if Pietrangelo could be enticed to Wpg for $9 mill?
If we win the draft, my hope is we draft either the German kid, Stuitzle or Byfield. Need a player who can play Centre, as we all know.
My guess is that Nashville or Minny win the draft lottery tonight. Hope I'm dead wrong! |

They don't have the money to offer him 9m. That's most of the available money. Leave 6m to sign a 2C which a good one will cost close to 5m and fill in around. If you resign DeMelo he will probable be about 2.5m. Then the RFAs will want a raise. Even if little is done and they buy out perreault, money will still be very tight. |

How is that the only mishandled ball ends up winning the lottery?
The NHL did the Rangers a major solid! Totally fixed and totally rigged! |

Damn, really sucks they didn't get the 1st overall pick but I didn't have my hopes up, so I've read good things about this Lundell kid, he'll be 19 when the season starts, is described as a two way center and is apparently the most NHL ready player to be drafted besides Lafreniere, he's expected to be selected somewhere around the 10th overall pick, sounds like not a bad choice.
I just really hope they draft a center, they have plenty of D prospects and Gustafsson is their only center prospect that's signed, they really need to start building some center depth in the organization. |

Mishandled ball? - JetFuel
The guy putting the balls into the machine, dropped that ball into the machine before Bettman verified it. The guys hand is also clearly shaking before he drops the Rangers ball into the machine.

Ultimate being the one to do this, and let’s be real it had to be one of us, is the most on brand thing I can possibly imagine |

With this attitude, we never win.
Trade Perreault, don’t buy him out.
Shoot for Pietrangelo, and figure out the rest after you’ve gone for it. We don’t have time to be cautious anymore. Scheifele, Hellebuyck, and now Morrissey are all on the back half of their primes. Wheeler might be free-falling. We have no time.
As for your RFA concerns, Laine is the only big one. Pionk is glaringly obvious trade bait, and Copp and Lowry will likely either be affordable due to their usage crushing their point totals, or fed up and unsignable regardless. |

Perrault is ready for the glue factory. We can't afford to trade him to shed salary unless you want to lose picks or prospects. The last time Chevy did that with a player to get rid of Mason, it cost us Armia.

Correct. But I did go back and watch the process in super slow-mo. The guy pressed the button while looking away from the machine. Then about 3 seconds later the machine vacuum tube clicked in. So there was a built-in delay as part of the impartial process. Interesting is that a nano-second or so before the Ranger ball got sucked up the Jets ball was in and then out of the tube. Dohhhhh.
