Remember how we all said that Marner was $1M overpaid?

More like $2-3M.

1 5-on-5 point this series.

- Atomic Wedgie

Didn't look the dynamic Patrick Kane kind of game breaker he did last year. Not a great season, hopefully he can bounce back and find the magic.

serious question - (I didn't watch any of the Habs-Pens series)... did the Habs outplay the penguins... or was it more Price getting hot at the right time?
- BorjeFan4Ever

Price was stellar but the Habs were able to score a few goals (surprisingly).

Yeah, it would be so weird for anyone in Toronto to know someone who works for the NHL, which has an office in Toronto.

It was a little bit of both to be honest.

Price was spectacular. He made every save he needed to make to keep his team alive during the different barrage of shots he was facing.

But the more the series advanced, the more the Habs played together as a team and eventually played on par or outplayed the penguins.

The culmination of this was game 4, where Price, while getting a shutout so... you know... he was perfect, but he didn't need to steal that game at all. The team in front of him made it far easier for him to get the win.

So while i'm disappointed about missing out on a possible Lafrenière.... it's great to see how this series has made my team grow together. They played really well in my book.

They could keep same divisions but just do all the games in a series of bubbles over the course of the year.
- Canada Cup

You can't have a bubble for 7 months.

You can only push out the start of the season so far (in hopes of a vaccine, which IMHO is wildly optimistic).

The league has a hard deadline of season being over by July 15th, as that's when NBC is hoping to begin Olympic coverage, and they have made it crystal clear that no hockey coverage will occur while Olympics are on.

I think poop is going to get a lot more real in the coming weeks with MLB, NFL and college football - it's going to become painfully apparent that loose bubbles will not work.

I'm extremely pessimistic about next year. I won't be surprised to see it cancelled.

Florida (because they suck)
Minny (because they are ancient...and suck)
Leafs/Oilers/Pens (because it would break the internet and be hilarious)
Preds (Poile will trade it...YOU KNOW HE WILL!)
Rangers (Get the do-over stud for their "rebuild")

- AdamFrench

I forgot about Florida.

My heart says the Leafs will win it.

My gut is saying Preds.

I wonder if the NFL are rethinking their views after seeing the kind of mess the MLB is in.

The Leafs create signficant revenue for the NHL, youd have to be pretty stupid to not realize that. The Leafs not being in the playoffs in a year where they could use extra TV ad revenue is bad.
- Archaic

This is true. The Leafs did not just disappoint their fans.

They have gone 16 yers without winning a playoff round. Not good for hockey, not good for their NHL partners.

Actually reached the point where fans of other teams are starting to feel sorry for the Toronto mess.

Sucks for the rebuilt beating Pitts but the young guys will get important playoffs experience and this should improve their development

Nah, he was great in the boston series for the most part. People discount how hard it is to come back after this long layoff and be up to speed again.

He needs to get a bit stronger for sure, but im not worried about him.

Well they should just draft a ball live on TV.

But I expect Bill Daly to just turn around a piece of cardboard to make everything more shady.

I actually think its bad for some of the play in teams who won like the Habs and Chicago.

They really need to be in rebuild mode and this sets them back another year IMO.

Nylander has great hair.

Leafs could have kept Marleau for that one additional year, and kept the 1st by trading away 2 or 3 of Johnsson, Kapanen, Nylander, Kerfoot.

Leafs had several players that could have easily slided in the bottom 6 fw roles; Gauthier; Leivo; Moore; Korshkov and a few others on the Marlies.

#FireDubas

- MaximusAurelius

you want to replace the NHL players with borderline NHL players...thats pretty bad

they had to move Marleau to continue with the push...its silly to suggest trading off 3 players to use fills ins to keep Marleau..
