So, a Leafs Fan, not a Hockey fan.
- bixll

I love playing hockey, paying attention to the CHL and other minor league systems.

But when the Leafs are out, no I don't watch too many games.

Off ice, Mac and Sid work out in Dartmouth at a gymnastic club. Marchand does his own thing with a trainer from Dalhousie, I believe.

I know a guy who owns a Dartmouth gymnastic club...

Fridge compairing a “bold move” Dubas might make the the Raptors bit trade.

Trading a well liked superstar by Teammates, fans and the community.

Marner is the guy he thinks they would trade, but at this point doesn’t see it happening.

Should've kept Burkie around? What are you talking about? He basically ran the Leafs right into the ground. His Leafs teams weren't tough. You're praising Burke and ripping Shanny? You're a joke.

Shanny is the one who turned the Leafs around. Just because the Leafs haven't yet succeeded in the playoffs doesn't mean he hasn't done a good job. This Leafs team was abysmal before Shanny arrived. They've built through the draft. There's still plenty of time for the Leafs to succeed in the playoffs.

- gergeswillems

i wasn't following the leafs as closely back then... could also be enough time has passed that the bad years of the burke era have dissipated...

Yep, I watch the NHL for the Leafs.

I really don't give a (frank) about other teams.

- Santo_44

Ill probably watch some games when i can maybe even the finals, but its the summer now. Dont care for hockey or have a rooting interest in any team left.

I'll watch some of the finals if there is a nice storyline to follow.

If Arizona makes the finals or the Habs do it will peak my interest.

STL, BOS, CBJ, CHI, WSH, PHI, TBL....yawn

If Petro wants to sign here for 7 years at 9 million are we okay with losing a Marner trade?

Marner really ruined his relationship with fans with that horsepoop negotiation.
- RogerRoeper

he really did not do himself any favors. I am seeing some people sour on him who I didnt think would.

all he had to do was take a deal under 10mil (9 mil the sweet spot)...and he would have bought him self a lifetime of adoration. taking a perceived Home town discount would have been the best thing for him...if he cant lead the team to a cup that is.

I'd deal Willy, Kerfoot and Johnsson and keep Marner. But that's just me. Pietrangelo would solve alot of the Leafs defense issues.

I think there is a bunch of value with Willy at 7 million...The difference between keeping Willy over Marner is 4 million. You can do a lot with that.

Hypothetically you sign Petro for 7x8.5 and trade Marner.

That leaves you with 2 million in cap space. You trade AJ and that leaves you with 5.5 million.

You can sign a goaltender long term and you can bring back a youngish forward back in the Marner trade for 4-5 million.

you get Petro, a 4-5 milling forward to slot next to JT and you have the money to sign a starter to 5-6 million.

He's taking a lot of poop. But he kind of signed up for that when he tied the teams hands and demanded take a lot of poop money.

That's true. I'd just hate to see the Leafs deal Marner when he's so young. I think he still has room for improvement. I know he wasn't very good vs Columbus. But I don't see Willy getting much better than he is right now. I get that Marner is overpaid by a couple million. But I'd give him another chance at playoff (in) redemption before trading him.

His contract is very tradable.

Only owed 900K next year.

Dubas gave himself and out and he may use it this summer.

JT, AM are untouchable and Nylander's contract is too good.

I think its time the Leafs shakeup the team and get a D.

It has to come at the expense of one of the contracts over 10 million...and that won't be JT or AM.

So how does that play out it Pietrangelo wants more money shorter term? Like say 3 x 10. He just may not want to be looking at longevity in such a strange market.

Agreed.

I would trade Marner and Willie if the right deals came along. But Marner would be the one I'm actively looking to deal because contract. It's a poop cap hit for the leafs but marketable money for a tighter pocketed team.
