Yep, that and in the US not watching players like McDavid, Crosby, and Matthews who they actually tune into to watch.

It did not go well at all. They probably would have liked to see the NYR, EDM, TOR all get in for ratings.

- Archaic

For sure, their play in idea failed.

It was exciting but the popular teams are out before the playoffs even happened.

Pitt, TOR or EDM getting that pick could save this.

He's the same guy who said he would trade Eichel, Dahlin and a pick for Seth Jones. Hard to take him seriously after that.
- Kinger34

That's NOT what I said...I said it would take Mariner and Reilly for Seth Jones. THAT was the question I was answering..but whatever..

Let’s help Dufas out in case we win....

Nylander and Holl for Ekblad
Kapanen for P Myers
Sign Tanev as UFA
Johnsson for T Thompson
Dermott for 2nd rd pick
Let Clifford walk
Spezza retires
Sign Lehner
Trade Anderson to Calgary for Bennett

Laffy Matthews Hyman
Robertson Tavares Mikheyev
Engvall Kerfoot Barabanov
Thompson Bennett Korshkov
🐐

Rielly Tanev
Muzzin Ekblad
Sandin Myers

- mr.sir

I am too but don’t agree about Doughty (not ready for long Doughty argument)
- Canada Cup

Marner for Doughty is a win for LA, I agree.

Its just if Dubas thinks this team desperately needs a 1D to win a cup he may have to make that hard decision where the other team is getting the younger, better player.

There is no denying the addition of Doughty would make that D core pretty good...Like TB, their D core lives and dies with their top D.

Leafs Fans : Toronto out of the playoffs is a bad thing for the NHL

The rest of the NHL : Thank god we don't have to watch the Leafs another day.

I've been doing some deep thinking about the 2020-21 season.

The only way I can see this working is if they have an all-Canadian division, and of course three other divisions, and teams only play against divisional opponents.

Top four teams in each division make the playoffs.

Once those are done, semi-finals and finals take place in a bubble city.

48 games or so for the season.

No way in hell it can work otherwise.

Let's be honest here.

The team that deserves the first overall pick the most are the Wild who last picked in the top 5 like 20 years ago.

Leafs, Pittsburgh or the Oilers would make everyone but their own fans mad.

the only way this could work out as not a complete failure would be if Leafs win the draft lottery tonight, and somehow (too many covid cases?) the NHL playoffs aren't finalized this year.

anything else than that - utter failure for Dubas and Shanahan.

Good write up Mike... Hit on the nail on the head.

It's just that there was no need, half of the posters in here have already figured out what how to snap the championshipless streak. You just change GM's every 2-3 years is all. 🤷‍♂️

Weird thing is I’m less upset this year. Somehow less invested in this. Seemed more like a pop up tournament without the regular season build up.

Weird thing about series was how king it took JT to get going and the fact that guys like Hyman and Soup never really got going. Nylander and Marner are easy and regular targets but the guys you normally count on weren’t really there.

3 months ago this bubble idea was laughed at...The NHL will find a way. If anything these playoffs are showing us the NHL and the players are committed to their jobs and making it work at all costs.

Ive heard all week how the refs were biased towards the Blue Jackets.

Cant be both. Which is it?? Are the refs anti-Leaf or is the league pilling for the Leafs to advance?

Yeah but there's a difference between being away from your family for 2 months tops to being away for 6.

But the poor teams will still gladly take the Leafs Money to stay in existence.

Laf going to a marketable team is what the NHL would want.

Minny deserves it but it isn't the ideal team.

Not sure what's worse...losing Leafreniere to an Offer Sheet in 2023...or paying him 12.6mil on a 5 year deal that takes him to UFA early?

You really are stupid. The League having a financial and marketing interest doesn’t necessarily mean refs tilt things.
