I would take Nylander in a heartbeat. I like his skill set but that $7M cap hit over the next five seasons is just dumb.
You won’t get much value in a trade. Like you said, he’s a leaf until that contract expires. - bloatedmosquito
This is just stupid. your team is paying Eriksson almost as much. Idiotic take. He' s 24 and just had 31 goals. He's signed in his prime. Teams will line-up for him. |

Toronto is a basketball town now. |

They wouldn’t have too if dubas wasn’t stupidly handing Marner 11mil and 12mil to Tavares (when leafs already had 2 solid top six centres and only 1 good dman) |

His fans will post some photos of him making funny faces with matthews and marner to prove he's a great leader.

Why is that?
your opinion correct.
would be nice he had a cap hit 5.5 mil but that's why he held out to get a nicer pay day - zazzle
I’m no leaf expert but didn’t management have all the leverage in contract negotiations? If he held out so what? Let him sit.
I don’t think he’s a catalyst for this team. He’s talented and adds scoring depth. If I managed a franchise he’s not the player I’d build around. To me he’s just a solid piece to the roster puzzle.
That contract (paired with other high end contracts) puts undue pressure on management to be creative in filling the rest of the roster out. As we all know, most management teams in the NHL are not that creative so in reality these contracts become a liability. |

Nylander is worth his contract. Every team in the league would take it if they could fit it in the cap. - MisterBrown
most can’t. That’s why it will be difficult to maximize value in a trade.
You don’t trade in a vacuum. The market sets the price. If most teams can’t fit it in then the leafs will have to take something back or limit their market to those who can fit it in.
Hence why I said it will be hard to maximize value. |

Very true. But most times he doesn’t. That’s why he’s always the target of fan trade scenarios. If his contract was a tad more reasonable I think most in here could overlook his shortcomings. |

I'll bite
Marner for Werenski and J. Anderson
Sign Lehner or trade Freddy for Keumper(ARZ saves 2.5 million next season)
Hyman-AM-Nylander
Micky-JT-Anderson
Robertson-Kerfoot-Kapanen
a combo of UFA signings and Spezza
Rielly-Werenski
Muzzin-Holl
Sandin-Dermott
Lehtonen
Kuemper
Campbell
Oh and if the Leafs get Laf tonight I am moving Marner out west to the best offer on a defensemen. I don't care if the Leafs lose the deal a bit. - Santo_44
The Blue Jackets aren’t trading Werenski. Nor are they trading Jones... yet. Plus, Werenski is more valuable then Marner, so I’m absolutely not adding a player to the deal if I’m Columbus.
Rather have a top pairing defenseman then Marner. Most teams think that way. You have to draft them and pray they develop.

Not me. To win the cup teams need all hands on deck. No passengers. |
