No. No. No. According to this board, and Roger, Nylander is one of the BEST contracts in the league and sbhouldn't be moved. Everything here suggests Kapanen or Johnsson or whatever is moved, fringe guys....and some big haul coming back. Heck, Roger even wants Anderson dropped. So now you need a #1 goalie, THAT"S not gonna be cheap. And replace Barrie....compared to the Tampa situation...chaulk and cheese... - hawk35
Roger is a moron.
Nylander is on a good contract, but he’s the easiest to move. Kapanen has some decent trade value, if the Leafs packaged him with one of Dermott or Liljegren, the return would be pretty good. You’re not getting a top pair D, but a 2nd pair with term? Sure.
I wouldn’t be surprised if Marner was the one moved. Because of the Cap staying flat for a couple of years, that really makes it hard to have 3 10M+ contracts, especially all being forwards. |
|
|
|
Only if there’s a solid return, otherwise it’s Sandin, Lehtonen, Robertson and whoever they can get for Johnson, Kapanen type deals. With what’s likely to be a very weird trade market, Dubas won’t feel compelled to make a deal to satisfy the smart people here. - Canada Cup
Then it’s another year with no 2nd round. |

And....Rangers winning the Lafreniere sweepstakes is such a releif. With the Oilers, Leafs and Pens in there....just hoped one of those 3 chokers that lost the play-in and were clear favorites didn't get the prize. Not a Ranger fan, but if it wasn't those 3 teams mentioned, all is good!!! - hawk35
Cool story. Not exactly sure why you are telling it on the leaf blog.
But cool story.

Which team has Matthews? ‘nuff said.
Also, Dubas drafted Robertson with the 53rd pick. Let’s see who that genius drafts this year. |

All I’m saying is the return has to be there and it really hard to gauge hard this market is going to play out and I haven’t heard any realistic deals for magical top pairing RHD.

Nylander and Liljegren for Ekblad.
Watch it happen, then I’ll go full Roger on everyone. |

He really played with an edge in the Canes series. Too bad he was just about the only one.
NYR picked our starting goalie the next decade with the 118th pick.
Leafs should try it some day |

I say this in all seriousness, no he’s not.
He only puts up good numbers playing with either Matthews or Tavares. His hockey IQ is not great. He makes a ton of bonehead passes. He can’t play defence, like at all. He avoids contact, can’t win battles, and he comes across selfish.

Nylander is the only possibility and that is not going to happen.
They aren't backing off this idea until this core moves on or ages out of their primes.

FLA will have a new GM, so it could be possible.
this trade for me, is in the would be nice but it ain't going to happen unless the Leafs give up something of significant value |

I think Nylander + Liljegren is definitely on the track for significant value. I'd also consider Marner. |
