Love seeing the Leaf-haters always defend the Marleau deal.

Rangers could be really good in a year or two.

Not sure bridge deals are great. And despite COVID, the young stars wll still get their money. Jets now have a year until they deal with Laine again and they'll be no deals under 7 this time around.

His entire approach to the team, how he wants his team to play..

Did Lou trade Kadri (great contract) for Barrie? No? Then shut tf up about Lou.

No one did. What the (frank) kinda moron take it that.

Please point out where I, or anyone, defended the deal

Dubas gave up your 13th overall pick so that you get Marleau off your books??!!??

WOW!!!

That is insane.

Our GM is a mental midget and you’ll see he has a happy following. Grotesque. Another year of maybe making it and prob losing first round they’ll come around. Takes some folks a little longer.

lou did a lot of damage here in such a short period of time.
- wingz4life

It’s amazing that he gets so much credit, but all he really did was trade for Andersen and signed Kadri and Rielly to what turned into great contracts.

His drafting sucked and his free agent signings were awful. Most of what Dubas “inherited” came before Lou...some of it was even because of Dubas in 2015 (Hyman, Kapanen). lol

The same people complaining that Dubas gave RFAs too much money, ignore Lou signing RFA Zaitsev to that atrocious extension. lol

Just popped in to see if the thread was a dumpster fire. Was not disappointed.

Because Lou signed it, it's always defended more than the matthews deal.

Marleau will never play hockey again.

Yeah, they should have gone the same route as Dubas and just handed out the max deals right away.......who wants a few years of cap flexibility when you can go directly to cap hell

Except those teams don't have more money than the Leafs LOL. Tampa signed Point for 3 years. Have you taken a look at their cap?

People continuously display a lack of knowledge about the cap situations of all teams other than the Leafs.

Meanwhile if Leafs gave Matthews 2 or 3 years we'd hear about offersheets from the Coyotees soon from non Leaf-fans.

Marner and matthews would be out of here they'd say.

I'm not a fan of an 80 year-old GM myself. I'd take the 32 year-old.

Nobody is suggesting that Tampa doesn’t have work to do......but at least they’re in that position by having arguably the best team in the league. The leafs are in that position by having a fringe playoff team.

better be a finnish goalie or a d-man over 6ft that has a high ceiling but needs work or something

I think the real question is what happens to Marty Marincin and I hope to god the answer is that he gets a 1 year contract to drive the Leafs' players poopty toy dogs to get dog grooming while they play hockey

If you watch the replay of the guys face when he dropped the NY ball, his eyes close and reads of someone going “man, I just (frank)ed up.” It truly is possible it’s rigged.

I haven’t gone through team by team but there are a lot of teams at or close to cap for a while and a bunch of franchises about to enter into serious financial trouble. I don’t know how many are in a position to dole out big bucks. Maybe enough for all the big young stars. We’ll see. Somewhat older guys like AP are probably in tougher.

They got swept last year and are entering the 1st round without Stamkos and Hedman. With their cap issues this might very well be it for them. They've had a 5+ year run. They may have lost their best chances.

I fully expect the poor teams to severely cut the budget. They won't have the same cap spent next year as they did this year.

what’s the recent playoff history of that best team in the league?
