Canes were pissed when he took them to arbitration and got awarded a one-way contract despite not playing a single NHL game last year.

Sign him to a cheap-ish extension this summer?

I just don't see any other goalie out there and I would hate to end up with the combo of "Monster" and Toscola/Reimer again.

- underhill14

Why extend him this summer?

Why the hurry?

Let's revisit in July 2021.

I’d look at Murray, probably signs a cheaper bridge deal right now.

Or like I said earlier, Andersen for Raanta saves Arizona 3 million in actual dollars. Pretty huge for a potentially half season.

Raanta seems to be injured a lot.

Agreed. The further into the Cap freeze, the better positioned management is in negotiating. (Although in general I stand with the workers proletariat.)

A little perspective on the possibility of running a full NHL season next year, outside a bubble:

The Cardinals and Pirates three-game series set to start Monday at Busch Stadium has been postponed, a source confirmed. One reason for the complete series being postponed is the the Cardinals have received word Sunday of an additional positive since the three new positives Friday, two sources with knowledge confirmed.

. . . . .

That assures the Cardinals of 13 consecutive postponed games.

That will put at least two weeks between them and their most recent game, and the goal is to add days between the team and its most recent positive test. The Cardinals had spent six days in quarantine last week, and two days after leaving Milwaukee they had new positive tests. This has caused enough alarm that the team and Major League Baseball are exploring the number of days the Cardinals must remove themselves from the schedule.

The likelihood of Monday's Pirates game being postponed was clear over the weekend. The postponement of the complete series was first reported by ESPN.

The postponement now leaves the Cardinals 46 days remaining on their schedule with 55 games to play. The Cardinals' next scheduled game is a doubleheader in Detroit on Thursday, however there's some question whether the team should be asked to return from a two-week hiatus with limited workouts to immediately travel and play a doubleheader. Cardinals opening day starter Jack Flaherty has not thrown an inning of competition since July 24, and by Thursday every pitcher on the staff will have gone two weeks without a pitch against an opponent.

I’m telling you Wedgie, use your Divisions in a series of bubbles to make up a season.

Yes, not good.

However mlb? Poor example. They have been a (frank) up from the outset.

We are also comparing nhl running next season to mlb (frank)ing everything up right now.

Could realistically jam a full season into bubbles... With something like 2 months on 1 month off. Gives the players breaks to see their familes and plenty of time to reclear protocols and rejoin bubbles. 🤷‍♂️

Yeah he's junk anyways. He still needs to earn a job as a backup let alone be handed a job to split starting duties.

If the Leafs win the lottery, I will wear a Habs jersey, watch every one of their playoff games, and change my Favourite Team to the Habs.

Genuine question. You think he's worth 7-8 million for 5-6 years? In the event you do... You think the team can carry that?

Of course those are speculative numbers on my end, but I think he takes that down easy on the open market and he knows it. Bobrovsky set an ugly bar there. 😬

If Laf goes to Toronto, will he get 10.5 or 11m in 3 years?

Seriously though, Marner deserves a good yelling from his dad, even if he is a psycho

Since I got off Warzone to eat, I'll be doing nothing else at 6ish. So yup. I'll be watching it.
