It's handcuffed the team and lead to a series of cap hits for upcoming RFAs that prevent them fixing their D issues.
you might disagree and that's fine, but don't be going on like anyone who doesn't follow the team line is "silly".
if you have a some alternative for what the team should do, then spell it out. maybe you have no proposals to offer? is that it? you just like to criticize? - MisterBrown
The superstar C addition made them a poop load better. They have arguably the best 1-2 punch in the NHL.
What (frank)ed them was the Zaitzev, Martin, Malreau contracts, which Dubas had to fix by adding Ceci's 4.5 million cap hit and trading a 1st round pick. Of all things you could complain about, you are complaining about the Leafs adding a superstar C without giving any assets....excuse us for calling that a dumb take.
Who is this magical 1D the Leafs could of added? If a top 2 D comes available they can offload Marner for him. Why? Because that is what it will cost. Signing JT didn't hinder this team. |

John Torterella is a coaching genius. Toronto is flawed in very specific ways, and Andersen may not be a championship goalie. Tort's knew exactly how to handle the Leafs, and it was the same strategy he used against the Lightning. The Leafs were done as soon as Covid postponed the season. The high pace, up-tempo style the Leafs play was stalled as they had no time to ramp up. Combine that with the significant holes on the blueline, and the brilliant defensive play of the Jackets, and this was the only logical outcome. - Falon
The ice being absolute poop also hurt the Leafs.
They were playing with a tennis ball last night. |

If management cant see that they had at least a dozen better options then Marincin, then they should be let go. I expect this management to sign this useless POS with a new 5 year contract with a no movement clause. Its been years since I have seen a player in the NHL this atrocious. - ToMaLe
Leafs fans need to quit worrying about Marincin.
He's signed to league minimum.
Be worried that they don't sign a guy better than him, but don't worry that they've already signed him. |

Can we all please stop responding to the troll Mister Brown?
He's not a Leafs fan.
He created this troll account today to get some weird kink jollies.
Stop feeding the trolls. |

We knew Ceci was going to fail. It was a short term pain thingy to get rid of Zaitsev.
Barrie is the puzzling one. I'll confess I didn't watch a single minute of him with Colorado, but from everything I've read, shouldn't he have thrived under Toronto's "system?"
Yeah, I put "system" in quotes. |

Time to change the way the team is structured cap wise. Less money up front, more money on the back end. The other most popular complaints (lack of heart, sandpaper, etc.) can be accomplished at the same time.
I mean it's really not that complicated when you look at it like that, and have absolutely no idea what you're talking about and no vested interest in the outcome like me. 🤷♂️ |

i watched 2 mins more than you of Barrie before the Leafs got him.
he just didnt work with this team. And I am willing to say now, if Dubas re-signs Ceci for some stupid reason...ill be first in line to punch him in the face |

About as well as Gardiner did. He was a right handed Gardiner from the outset. |
