the second goal was the killer, freddy lets crap in all the time. - bobbyisno1
Not a nice one, still scored as much as Matthews 3 years running in the final game.
🤷🏻♂️
Hopefully we’ll send him packing so we can see it’s not the tenders fault for our losses.

so we are back to rebuild of the D group. Keep Reilly, Muzzin and Dermott....? - Symba007
Same place most of us have been for a while.
Leafs likely aren't going anywhere with Martin (frank)ing Marincin playing any minutes in the playoffs.
Need a legit top pairing defender (Pietrangelo please) and a good second pairing guy to play with Muzzin.
Dermott/Holl can handle third pairing minutes against weak competition.
Marner is the likeliest casualty from my point of view.

just so we're clear, we're all trying to fix the defense even though the leafs got shut out twice in 5 games, right?
Maybe the problem is that they were getting killed every time the top line wasn't out there and depth is a real issue?
i'll hang up and listen. |

Willie floats, and hardly can see any team be interested in trading for such a one-dimensional non-committed player as him.

It's pretty simple:
Upgrade the offence, defence, goalies, PP and PK, while shedding salary cap.
Get a better coach.
Get a more experienced GM.
Get a smarter President.
Raise beer prices.
Invent a COVID-19 vaccine. |

Babcock's fault - Symba007
it's not that the coach decided to use Engvall instead of Gauthier or whatever, it's that either of those guys were actually good enough to make the roster in the first place.
This also goes for Justin Holl, Marincin, etc. |

last year, Gauthier played really well in playoffs.
this year, Engvall was probably the best 3rd/4th liner vs CBJ.
Both should be in the lineup.

Dubas has made a few calls pitching his players.
GM’s have responded.
“Kyle, I like your enthusiasm, but we watched the series.” |

they should combine them together to create 1 super non win playoff team - senstroll
Can you please stop calling the super talented Dubas led Leafs a playoff team.
They didn't make the playoffs. This was a qualifier round. I guess if I go on a interview for a job I am an employee even if I don't get the job .
Dubas and Keefe were looking to show how smart they are with their vision by dressing an 18 year old because he had such impressive offensive stats in juniors.
Look how our progressive all offense team is better than those boring bad corsi hard workers . How did that work out? Come on superboy genius make some more trades using your vision. Barrie and Kerfoot for Kadri ,Great. You need some more gritty depth forwards like Petan and Malgrin. Super. And your now all set with the cap because you fixed that too. Great depth on defense for sure, any team would love to have Marincin waiting to step in.
Most overrated part of the team GM SUPERBOY DUBAS. At least now he can spend his time dealing with social issues. I mean isn't that the most important part of being a GM. |

with the offense the Leafs have, Andersen should NOT be blamed for last night. You ALL know the Leafs will allow a few goals a game but the team is built to outscore everyone, that's their identity. Goalie lets in 2 goals including one that deflected right in front of him and he made a bunch of nice saves, this one is NOT on him. - Symba007
Exactly this. Who cares about the 2nd goal, the leafs didnt even score 1 goal. |

Willie floats, and hardly can see any team be interested in trading for such a one-dimensional non-committed player as him. - MaximusAurelius
I wonder if part of that is systemic.
like one of the things Brind'amour (and others) talked about with Jeff Skinner was that when he first joined the team he was so good that they didn't hold him accountable for the mistake he made defensively. They just let it slide as "rookie mistakes" or whatever, and then as he got older those habits didn't change and it effected the other players on the team.
It was easier for other guys to cheat and take shifts off because Jeff was doing it too and he didn't get poop on for it like other guys did.
That's the biggest shift under Brind'amour. Everyone is held to the same baseline standard regardless of skill level. There's a minimum that has to be met or you just don't see the ice. |
