Andersen played well and didnt cost the team the series, but the leafs need more from him, they depend on their goalie too much and he wasnt up to the task.
They needed him to win the series for them. - Fakepartofme
maybe convince Holtby or someone to come here for cheaper... |

There's gonna be some cap casualties for sure.
Killorn has no protection and his stock is high, so he's probably gone.
Palat, Johnson, and Gourde all have some movement protection, but must also be under consideration if they agree to waive. Personally, I would keep Palat over the others.
Foote can take a D spot on the 3rd pair at a league minimum, so that frees up a little space.
Beyond that, it's going to be interesting. - GalacticStone

Your prediction of the Leafs winning the cup was a little off in the end.
I could make fun of you, but I just hope you might learn from this.

That weak one just crushed them last night.
I know all about playing with bad goalies and how letting in a weak one destroys confidence.
Oh, Lordy Lordy Lordy, I know all about it. |

I am not blaming Andersen...But he really wasn't great.
He didn't suck like he has in the past but that's not good enough.
He is owed 1 million for next season...Can you work out a deal for Keumper or Rant in Arizona? They''d be saving 2-3 million in the deal. - Santo_44
anderson was good.... jackets G, were the best in the play ins
also..the Leafs had good D results...probably based on the poor offence cbj have.
the leafs were just shut down at 5v5

Interestingly at 5v5 across the opening round the Leafs ranked:
2nd in xGA60
2nd in HDCA60
4th in HDSv%
All good defensive results.
3rd in CF60
2nd in SCF60 (good offensive result)
23rd in SCSh% (out of 24 teams)
22nd in HDSh%
24th in 5v5 Sh%
Atrocious finishing. |

That... And a lot of teams have proven success is capable without a big ticket goaltender. A more well rounded team and you shouldn't have to rely on your goaltender every night.
It's been awhile since I can remember a goalie legit carrying his team to a cup. ๐ค
I can't think of any scenario for this team where having a 7-9 million per goaltender (or whatever he's going to get paid) is sufficient for this team's build. |

On JT..and how he cost the leafs Kadri....
I think it would have been a unanimous yes if you said you can have Tavares, Kerfoot and Barrie for Kadri and 1st (and Marleau dump)
if you are being fair.
even the one now saying how he cost too much... |

Changes need to be made. For starters they need a new mascot. A politically correct female one. They should call her Miss Playoff.

I really don't know what Dubas is going to do.
Marner should be on the table but I don't see any 1 for 1s that would make much sense.
Ekblad makes sense but the money doesn't for Florida.
Can he get creative on salary retention? or add another team in the mix? |

This year is interesting, I am not half as pissed this year as in the past years at the result. Honestly, with how this whole season has shaped up, its really not a big deal compared to the previous ones due to the pandameic.
Trolls really have no impact, especially considering most of them have been from crappy teams. |

Before this series began a few Leafs fans here floated the idea of Seth Jones for Mitch Marner. Obviously the Blue Jackets would never make this trade.
But what about Zach Werenski for Marner? Leafs need a young stud defenseman to play with Rielly. Columbus needs more scoring and they already have Jones.
Leafs would shed some Cap in the process. Dubas could use that to address other needs.

He posted a .920 during those playoffs and, yeah, he was great, but the team also scored 2.92 goals per game that playoffs, same as the Oilers did, and their powerplay was clicking at 22.5% |

Reality is there's a million things he could do. Which, despite all the heat he's taking on here... Is a positive indicator of the work he's done since taking control of the team. Stupid people may say otherwise, but the bulk of the roster if not the whole thing is very trade able.
Everyone is going to say he should do something different. Each individual person will be right I'm sure.
I just hope it's not more of the one dimensional variety. They need to move forward with the understanding the team needs more facets to their game. Because if you (frank) that up now, the next realization won't be when the team is in as good of a spot. |

Actually, the money makes a lot of sense for Florida.
The day after Mitchy receives his signing bonus for 2020-21, they can trade him to Florida.
Florida gets him for 5 years, with an average salary (real dollars, not cap hit) of $7 million per year.
That's pretty tempting. |

It is tough because the Leafs lose on that trade in terms of talent.
One thought that is crossing my mind is signing Petro and trading Marner for a forward plus picks. |

Maybe if a Canadian team advances, I'll jump on a bandwagon. |

Florida loses out on about 3 million I think.
They'd have to really believe they are getting the better player.
Plus are they comfortable with leaving their D core in the hands of two 35 year olds and Matheson? |
