I read one guy think they could get Phil Myers from us for Kapanen.

I'd like Kapanen as a role player, but he can barely make their 3rd line, and they want a more than capable young second-pairing defenseman for him.

Others over there liked the idea, but I didn't respond. He had a whole lotta crazy fixes to all of a sudden fix everything and giving up little

So many problems with that offer. We still have no idea what Myers ceiling is? I've said it for ages, young stud dmen like Provy, Sanheim and Myers are the most coveted assets in the league. We spent the good part of six years drafting and drafting to fill this void. The Leafs have not and have gone forward heavy which doesn't translate to playoff wins. I keep the D we have and keep drafting like crazy. Long term contender is the goal.

Also, while I like Kapanen, Nylander doesn't impress me, and it incredibly overpaid. The contract they gave him was the beginning of this mess for the Leafs. half your cap can't be taken up by 4 forwards.

I don’t think the Leafs would be looking to move the number one pick if they got it or their Captain. I would argue John Tavares was the only player who brought it every series, even ahead of Matthews.

I think Nylander really is the odd man out.

Completely agree. But it will prob take Nylander plus to get an impact dman. Their smart solution is to draft one but they aren't a patient lot.

If they had gotten lafreniere, then perhaps you flip Marner but again that cap hit.
I am still amazed that they paid Marner and Matthews that much and neither have led the team to any playoff series wins. It's not like they were kane and Toews with 3 cups then wanting to get paid??

I like Kapanen as a middle-6 winger who could play in all manpower situations. I really do, and I'd love him on the Flyers. But if you want a young top-4 dman, it's gonna cost more than a middle-6 winger.

I've liked kapanen for years. Myers is budding into a potential top pairing guy. You would need to give me a top line 35+ goal scorer and game changer for him. So that being said yeah right no thanks goodbye.

A buddy of mine keeps suggesting we go after max domi since he's playing on the canadiens 4th line cause you know Julien logic. But we have such depth and good prospects at forward. I dont even know where they're all gonna fit. At this point the only trades that make sense for this team is multiple players for 1 shiny studly player

Good points. As of now, I keep stockpiling picks and listen to offers only if it’s an overpay for a player we can afford to lose.

Also, i am very interested to see if ghost can keep up his play from the other night vs Tampa. I really want him to rebound well and we can use that depth on d for the playoffs. I just have images of 2004 where we ran out of dmen and 2010 when the 3rd pairing was parent an krajicek. Yikes.

Well you're not going to be a 35+ goal player for Myers. Players who scored 35+ goals this season:

MacKinnon
Eichel
Kyle Conner
Aho
Zibanejad
Draisaitl
Matthews
Ovechkin
Pastrnak

But I get what you're saying. If you're moving Myers, you don't want to get a complementary forward in return, you want a premier top-line player. Problem is, I don't think you can get one, so the best idea is to keep him.

If we had Meszaros on D or Bob in net, we win in 2010. All we needed was competent defense on the 3rd pairing and in goal, and we didn't get that in the SCF.

Agreed. We don’t know what his ceiling is as he’s just he tying acclimated. So far so good imo. If you end up having a crazy surplus of stud young dmen you are going to be able to get desperate teams t overpay and get an impact forward. Maybe not a 35 goal sniper but someone worthwhile. It would be great to have a true sniper but we’re doing ok recently with defence and goaltending.

Yeah. The next year we fixed that 3rd pairing and had bob but it was too late.

Very excited for the first round. Haven’t been anticipating A playoff series like this since prob 2012. Great to have that excitement back. Really hope they can take this series.

Saw some comparisons on d corps and they are saying the d corps from
Mtl is superior. Really? Talking to my friends who are Pens fans basically said the pens didn’t show up at all and it was just as much about that as it was price and t he habs play.
