I got no beef with the Rags winning over the other 7 teams.
They were like #11 seed, are clearly rebuilding and were the only team swept.

The Bettman works in mysterious ways.

I felt the Jets were most entitled seeing as it was their ball. Really happy not to see the Pens, Oilers or Leafs win it.

I think that's one thing that Canucks nation can agree on (Except humongous..where is that guy?)

True...it’s not much difference than the Flyers moving from 13th to 2nd a few years ago.

The Leafs should trade Matthews to the Rags for Lafreniere.

Nah, he's the one player they shouldn't trade.

How are they gonna address needs though? Tavares has a full NMC, Nylander is a soft but skilled scoring winger, which won’t get you a huge return...they have depth and defence issues.

Matthews would fetch a huge return though. Should’ve traded him and kept Kadri.

Never should have signed Tavares, that's my opinion.

The guy they should move is Marner if they can get a good return. Moving Nylander is fine but I think his contract is better value and expires sooner.

Perhaps you’re right, not that I care about Toronto, just a huge mess of top heavy offensive guys and thin everywhere else. Definitely will see changes imo.

Mathews is a 200ft player, one of the best in the league wether we like or not. Marner makes what a million less? There's no way you watch those 2 players and think they're even comparable hockey players.

Beagle is a 200’ player, Matthews doesn’t even compare.

Wow...I didn’t realize that, that’s crazy money for him. Well that changes things, considering this new information, I’d be trading Marner for cap relief and help in other areas.

Poop disturber....

It’s ok, I get it, sometimes you just have to go into the corners with your elbows high just so the opposition knows you’re there lol.

It might be 11.6 to 10.2 or something but the point stands.

Also, giving Tavares that big FA deal kinda set the market a bit on your own rising stars.

Imagine how they'd look with Seth Jones eating 30 minutes a night. Doubt you get that for Marner though without adding substantially.

Ya Reilly needs some help back there, their defence is crap and their bottom six needs a serious overhaul. Maybe Benning can help them with his three bottom six lines

Funny story, buddy (hockey background) always has his elbows up when he turns. He’s broken more things than anyone I know.

The Kadri trade was clearly a bust for TML.

I still say they need to trade Nylander.
Mathews elevated his game and should be untouchable.
Marner is good, not at the same level as Mathews and too expensive to move.
Tavares is the C and wants to play for the leafs, I wouldn't upset that apple cart.

Which leaves Nylander. Trade him for a D, unlikely to get full value.
Flip him to the NJD for Pk Subban. (<-- no. not seriously)

Mitch Marner is a much better player and would fetch a huge return, however, Nylander is the likely one moved.

Nylander and Holl for PK Subban (50% retained) and a prospect.

If I'm not mistaken Lou left right around the Tavares deal. In turn they traded Marleau and a 1st a year later. They also traded Kadri for Barrie which to me was puzzling.

It's a cautionary tale in team building IMO. Tavares deal runs another 5 seasons and he turns 30 before the next one begins. Yes, he's still capable of playing at a top level but he's likely past his peak.
