I don't recall anyone saying Nylander get you Jones.

If they did, I would have called them a moron.

(frank) off.

maybe the same type of stats used to determine the top 10 offensive teams, or top teams in the league, or worse teams in the league.

We gave up more goals then the Ottawa Sens this year, I’m going to go cry now.

Bye.

If Dubas didn’t give $40M to 4 forwards and saved some cash, maybe he wouldn’t have had to give up that first round pick to get rid of Marleau. Maybe he could have used that 1st round pick and some young guys to shore up defence.

Maybe he would have been able to keep Kadri with the extra cash.

Maybe MM would be even more enticing as a trade bait. Not that I would want to trade MM away unless the leafs win the lottery.

So yeah, I hate Dubas for giving away overly rich contracts to kids and trading away 1st round picks and Kadri and assemble the midget hockey team.

Dubas will get another kick at the can unfortunately but he was the wrong choice. Shanny f$&#ed everything up with that hire.

Our snipers didn’t snipe, they hit the goalie too many times. Our best chance was Matthews in the crease In the 1st and he hits him in the pads...usually that’s a laser under the bar.

Who do we cheer for now.

- Garnie

Matthews, Kerfoot (more because he was a surprise) and 4th line were only consistently good forwards.

Barrie is always going to suck but when it takes 3 games for JT 5o get going, Hyman, Marner, Nylander, Soup, Kap never really show up for extended periods this team is done.

- ThundernLightning

No one said that would be all that was included(I wouldnt trade him to begin with), but hes a good piece for sure. To say other wise is just showing your hate.

Assuming the 6/7 D and 11th/12th FWD's are 750k-1Milly a piece the Leafs have about 2.7 million and two guys to sign - Mikheyev and Dermott.

That's already too tight and doesn't allow for any additions.

Combine that with the need to reshuffle for the expansion draft and moves are coming.

You move Kapanen and Dermott out ....and replace Kappy with Robertson ...and you've got about 5 Milly to re-sign Mikheyev and slot in a D partner for Rielly.

What's Mikheyev get this offseason?

- The Law

Based on his playoffs?

A demotion.

But with Covid issues. I honestly think 1.5 mil or so. Higher if its a multi year deal.

People have been saying all week he gets you Seth Jones.

This is my favorite day of the year. I could read this stuff all day.

Freddie scored as many goals as Matthews the last 3 game 7’s.

- Garnie

Matthews was a beast last night from what I saw. The line had frequent sustained pressure in the offensive zone. He hit a crossbar and seemed to be a threat all night.

IMO your goaltender is the one person you absolutely need to rely upon when push comes to shove. Year after year he has let the team down when it matters the most letting in soft goals. Nothing deflates a team worse than that.

That second goal doesn't go in and maybe the wind isn't taken out of the Leafs sails. As I said earlier I turned off the tv at this point as I figured the outcome of the game was now set.

Freddie certainly wasn't the only liability on the ice last night.

I'm ok with questioning 40 million for 4 forwards, but really, the Marleau contract is not on him. And another aspect is Marleau was a 4th line winger getting top 6 minutes by the cocah. He really needed to be off the team.

Please refer to Penguins fans on their thoughts about Marleau in the playoffs this year.

Not so much on Marleau but the domino effects from cap issues. If we kept 1st round pick, maybe with Kap and/or Dermott, we could have gotten something for defence.

Marleau's deal was jut so bad. Worse by far than anything Dubas has ever signed. Marleau's career is over. I don't even think any team will offer him a minimum contract next year.

Any GM that would trade a correctly priced, true #1 D for an overpaid, prima donna winger that vanished repeatedly in huge moments, should immediately be fired.

Jones?? itd have to be Marner and Reilly. a 2nd line winger and a quality puck moving 2nd pair defense...and maybe a pick

Columbus has a deal on Werenski and Jones right now. Their about 10 mill cap hit combined right now. 2 years from now (i think- when their contracts are up). They are going to cost about double that amount to resign.

Ok man. Have at it defending this hot mess today. Team is worse since Dubas took over. And there is a reason Babs wouldn't give Holl a sniff. Like him or not, he's a Hall of Fame coach.
- fifty__missions

Well the team is better than the last place leafs, thats for sure.
Babs lost the team, mainly because they didnt want to commit to his style of play, which would be better for them long term - the run and gun rarely brings real success.
But i did question some decisions babs made, he was too stubborn. His time to go.
Now is keefe the answer....dunno. playing holl as much as he has.....ugh not great. But when you only have two top 3 dmen, what can you do.

The leafs either pick 1st overall or the pick goes to the canes. They do not get a top 15 pick.
- burn

1st or Canes get 13th overall.

We still need to score, yes it was soft ( pretty lucky actually how it went in )...but when the other team dumps it in and the stars flee the area and leave Marincin by himself ...meh. We didn’t deserve to win.....

Ya, I think thats about right.

So if he can't find a big trade then the easiest route of trading Kappy and Dermott leaves him about 3.5 to sign an upgrade on D. Not sure what that might get him.
