where/what is this from?

and what is used to determine "top nine defensive teams"

- senstroll

Pretty sure it's goals against per game.

Carey Price

but the jackets got the best overall with their combo together.

Also..Reimer ..lol

Holl is not "fine". He is not mobile enough to be a regular NHL dman. He should be a press box guy, watching most games from up there instead of repeatedly getting beaten with speed.
- fifty__missions

This is simply not true at all. Look at the 3rd pairing guys on other teams.

It's (frank)ing insane that the Leafs, Oilers and Pens all have a shot at him.

I'm kinda cheering for the Jets to win it, since it was their pick.

- golfingsince

It really needs to go to Detroit. It's ridiculous.

The NHL reacted to anger about the Oilers lottery luck and has now gone too far.

Leafs deserve the criticism they are getting.

Played piss poor uninspired hockey.

I think the battle about whether a forward needs to be traded for D is over.

The upswing of guys like Robertson and Mikheyev and the expansion draft coming next summer means the Leafs will reshuffle some pieces.

They'll lose some talent up front if they don't make some moves this off season.

Kapanen + Dermott ....or Willie + Dermott depending on what's even available.

If AP makes it to FA, then that a free try.
Feels like a long shot, but so did JT

if you could get a nice addition like that...you can move out will and Kap and Dermott for futures to replenish a bit

Our snipers didn’t snipe, they hit the goalie too many times. Our best chance was Matthews in the crease In the 1st and he hits him in the pads...usually that’s a laser under the bar.

Who do we cheer for now.

I know that most disagree with me but I think the two roster errors made the Leafs was the signing of Tavares and the trading of Kadri.

You cannot win a Stanley Cup without grit. It is hard to win a 7 game series without grit. I thought the Leafs fire power would take them through the qualifying round.

This team is very close. Muzzin was a great add. But they need more size and grit.

- spatso

You cannot win a playoff series when your "grit" gets suspended for the majority of games played. Sorry but I disagree that the trading of Kadri was an error. I have loved the kid back to his days with the Knights but he needed to go.

Kerfoot, Kap and Johnson account for 10 million per and did nothing. Marner looked timid and afraid out there at times, forgot how to handle the puck while he was off as well. Also another 10 million per. Ceci and Barrie have to be replaced. There is another 7.25 Mill per. So, there is 27 mill per year. Money NOT well spent.

obvious the team needs defensive help.
Nylander can go for that. For who exactly..

Rielly- Nylander Trade
Muzzin - ??
Sandin - ??

- wingz4life

They've been trying to add that top pairing guy for years. Muzzin was hoped to be the guy but he and Rielly couldn't play the right side. I'm assuming the Unicorn just isn't available.

I think the most likely outcome is is they get a 'decent' guy to play there and deal Kapanen and Dermott to get that guy ...or to create space to sign that guy.

Holl probably keeps his spot for another year.

Rielly - Newguy
Muzz - Holl
Sand - CheapVet

And Just like that RogerRoeper will no longer troll the Islander's blogger comment section for another year. (I guess spending some money on 3rd and 4th line players is not such a horrific thing? nah..)

Is this just a reaction to the 2nd goal last night?

Because Freddy had a .936 sv% in these 5 games.

I dont get why Leafs fans would want to move on from him. Doesn't seem like there's another guy ready to take over. He played 60 out of 70 games this year

- jcragcrumple

No, it's a reaction from last night, combined with game 7 last year, and game 7 the year before that. The guy's career numbers suggest he can't win when it counts, and in each of the last 3 years he has let in terrible goals in deciding games of series.

A .936 save percentage is great, but when he is needed the most he can't win.

I can, especially when your D are good enough to healthy scratch Gards if needed.

I've thought about that too. My worry is he's going to get a Josi-like deal around 9 million (or more). That really makes signing Rielly tough.

I think you look ahead a year or two at the Cap situation and they'd have to move one of the 10 Milly contracts to sign AP and Rielly. Bye bye MM? Or maybe trade Rielly?

I don't think my liver can handle being a Leafs fan.

I don't think my liver can handle another Lightning-Jackets series.

Looks like I picked the wrong 2020 to stop drinking hard liquor.

Might happen when Hamilton is back.

Don't think they'll sit Fleury with how good he's been.

give us the 411 on the Canes D situation this off season. Canes still look like trade possible trade partners with their D depth.

Is Pesce going to be available or are they prepping for Dougie to walk next summer?

How does Edmundson look?

Freddie scored as many goals as Matthews the last 3 game 7’s.

I think the hope of Pietrangelo coming to Toronto died when the pandemic flattened the cap for the foreseeable future. We will part ways with Ceci (4.5), Barrie (2.75), and add Sandin (900k) to the mix, but I think it leaves us around $5m to add or resign 3D and 3F. A big ticket trade that doesn't involve Marner's $10m contract probably doesn't even get you the capital you need to get in on the AP conversation.

I don't know what the answer is, but the best news right now is that Tyson Barrie and Cody Ceci are no longer Leafs.
