What is the blues culture? They constantly (frank)ed up in the playoffs after years and years of regular season success, then won the cup while just barely making the playoffs.

Do they have a good culture (all those playoff failures) or did they just win the cup last year and now no one cares about that?

They made significant changes the last 2-3 years at very important positions to get where they are, coach. Tendy. Defence. top centre. And those moves were not 'popular' at the time. But they were right to create a winner in talent and ability, but also will and respect. Building a winning business formula means understanding people just as much as it means identifying talent.

I know that most disagree with me but I think the two roster errors made the Leafs was the signing of Tavares and the trading of Kadri.

You cannot win a Stanley Cup without grit. It is hard to win a 7 game series without grit. I thought the Leafs fire power would take them through the qualifying round.

Columbus took out Tampa last year. Tortarella prepares his teams really well. Werenski and Jones are the best D pair in the NHL.

I just read it was to dump marleau however it’s only if the pick is top 10 so if you fall to 11th doesn’t that mean you keep the pick?

Well, I dont see how you pass on JT. That is not the problem with our team. Dubas is going to need to jetison someone to get defence. Willie or Marner + I would dangle for defence. We need at least 2 quality defense. Holl and Marincin are trash. Muzzin is good. Reilly is awesome but needs a partner. Dermott is not a top 4 imo. We have 2 top 4 d. Also, yes we need toughness. Get rid of a few guys like Johnsson, Kap, Kerfoot or whoever and get heavy guys. Get a heavy guy for the top line with Matthews and some guys for the bottom 2 lines. And for the love of Ballard teach these guys to play a defensive system. A good example is the Quinn years. They had offence, but it was everyone back playing defense and no 2 on 1s, etc. Block shots, hit, pack mentality. You play that way with guys like AM34 and you will go far.

Andersen should never put on a Leaf jersey again. Neither should Willie. How many years until we realize Willie is Gardiner-esque in high pressure situations? Guy is like a deer in the headlights. I know Keefe threw him into centre, but how the hell does that too many men penalty happen In a deciding game? Inexcusable. And the fly-by stick checking!!! WTH

Well, guy has been handed the keys to the kingdom. Endless talent available. Yet he has failed to realize that the NHL playoffs requires you to put your big boy pants on. It ain’t the AHL and it is not the ‘new’ nhl. It is a war. It always has been and always will be. You cant have guys not pulling their weight like Nylander, Andersen, etc...

to me they look pretty beatable, they do not have much offence at all...they need thier goalies to stand on thier head to win.

Holding the Leafs to 2% shooting at 5v5 is crazy. And it wasnt all low % shots from 100 feet out...except for Barrie....

Freddy was really good, not going to put anything on him...but korp/elvis was better

oh well..make some decent changes...try again next year
