Just came back from weekend fishing trip in the bush. Heard the leafs won in OT. Watched ‘game in 6’ and I was like ‘I know they won, but they are losing 3-0 with 5 minutes left, I must have heard wrong and they lost’.

It’s just so leafy.

When Bautista was the leader of the Jays, I hoped he'd be traded. His constant whining, griping and complaining - I felt - was a reason they didn't achieve more. He instilled that character to the team. They were victims not leaders.

The devil's advocate position here is that a lot of thought usually goes into these decisions. A quick Google reveals this from 2015 when he was selected:

"We had a list of qualifications, if you want to call it that, and Nick's the one that kept checking off the list both on and off the ice," Kekalainen said. "He produces points and sticks up for his teammates; plays hockey the right way. Competes. Plays with a big heart but he also leads us off the ice in the community with saying the right things and knowing when not to say anything."

Different people get fired up in different ways.

Because more often than not, Bautista was completely correct in complaining the call the Ump made.

Baseball has the luxury of being played at a very slow pace so they always show a lot of replays. And it almost always showed that he had a better eye than the guy whose job it was to get the calls right.

It doesn't gain any favours with the officials but there's nothing wrong with complaining when you're right.

The issue is that a player gets a reputation that usually results in borderline calls going against him.

I don't think Joey's complaining, even if justified, did him - or the team - any favours. And I love me some Joey Bats.
