After watching that series, I don’t see how anyone in their right mind can claim EDM is the “better team”.

EDM has been, and continues to be a terribly mismanaged and constructed team. They continue to waste McDavid’s prime years by surrounding him with absolute garbage. Their goaltending is patchwork crap.

Given the # of top picks this team has had over the past several years, it’s mind-boggling that they’ve accomplished nothing in that timespan

For all the trashtalk the Oilers are taking, at least Pittsburgh, Toronto, and Nashville also lost their series' Now there are only 2 teams in the lottery that I'd be fine with winning the #1 pick.

If the rumors of Arizona wanting to save dollars is true, then a deal centered around Russell for Stepan (maybe w/ cap retained) strikes me as interesting. Russell would be set to earn 1.5mil in salary while Stepan is up at 5mil. The net impact on our cap would only be 2.5mil (or less if retained) which is around what we'd pay for a 3C anyway.

Has anyone (but me) dared to say McDavid just isn't a winner? He doesn't play D, and hasn't made a single player better that he's played with. I've heard 5 years of excuses for him, not having anyone around him. Hall, Yakupov, Nugent Hopkins, Draisaitl, etc. He just doesn't have what it takes.
