Most contending teams do not have the cap space to sign top dollar UFAs.
Most of the rebuilding teams want to acquire picks and prospects. They also know the Seattle protection lists will be steeply compromised if they sign an expensive UFA.
I don't think there is much of a market for UFAs. A few will get good deals, most likely with their existing teams. More likely, they will need to sign short term deals for less money than they had expected. |

Krug would fit in nicely with the Big 3 then Romanov would be able to develop on the bottom pair oh baby baby baby baby what a defense core that'd make still got Brook, Harris, Norlinder and Struble coming. Gives you the luxury to be able to move a prospect or two for more fire power up front |

Why would that be a problem?
Last time I checked, most of the roster players of the NHL American teams are Canadian born players. - Garfield512
Krug would not be the first American that doesn't want to play in Canada. It's not just about the player, but also families. Maybe a players wife has a career that isn't transferable (ie oh you are a lawyer in Boston, well sorry but the legal system here is totally different. Oh your wife is a dentist. Sorry, she'll need to take a bunch of courses to practice in Canada). Then there are also issues with kids in school. Trouba wanted out of Canada. Lots of Americans prefer to stay home. |

The gigantic tax discrepancy plays a major role. Would you rather live in a country where your "taxes" go to money laundering schemes or initiatives to actually improve your country?
It's a no-brainer |

Hey Eklund, is the Buzztron now your source for rumours? I sense that you go on tsn.ca for rumours. |

How is it a "no-brainer" when the choice is Canada or the US? |

The Leafs have major power forwards like Marner and Nylander. But adding Hoffman would be extra powerful. |

But what if the Rangers signed power forward Mike Hoffman? He could join power forwards Panarin and Zibanajed and they would be known as the Power Rangers! Go Go Power Rangers!

If the Rangers can't get Hoffman maybe Cody Ceci could move up to forward? He's as close to a power forward as Hoffman. |

Dummy. Krug will either extend in Boston or sign in hometown Detroit. |
