I was kind of poopting on him for not being a stud #1 and not bringing the requisite intensity. May my soul burn in hell.

When I saw him break his stick on the bench after going down 3-0:

"Oh"

- mjones242

Breaking his stick in frustration. Spezza dropping the gloves to get the emotions going. It was exactly what this team needed.

Who do you want to face in the next round? The Leafs, Blue Jackets, or the Habs?
- mjones242

In order.

Habs. My only concernt hat is Price will decide to rectify the memory of giving up Umberger beachball goals from 2010

Blue Jackets (we match up quite well against them)

Leafs: I am a little worried about Leafs. We won the season series but in general, we seem to do better against good teams that play a heavier game (Boston/Was/St Louis) than good teams with quick, skilled forwards. Barzal undressed us singlehandedly. Games against Lightning were close but they were the better team. I don;t want Toronto to suddenly discover in reality what they are on paper.

Here's hoping Game 4 did exactly that.

Appreciate your breakdown though!

I appreciate Keefe shortening his bench. It's nice to see some urgency.

I also like how the leafs were the only team on elimination night to not be eliminated.

Special kind of troll to try to make winning a game a bad thing.

He's so clueless, he doesn't get it. Dude's team no where close to a playoff spot and doesn't get the stud pick in the draft and he's out trolling?

Urgency from the coach, yes. Utter lackadaisical idgaf-ness from the players for 56 and a half minutes.

You understand that effort and the like are fixable right? You saw what the team was able to do when they gave an effort right?

Hopefully, the team will realize that a sense of urgency and desire is what is necessary to win in the post-season. They dominated when they actually tried... imagine that?!

Do you really believe this??
Unless leafs get into playoffs and win at least 2 rounds, this season is still a failure.
Real playoffs haven't even started yet

Yes. How is it not?

There are countless examples of players growing up and becoming successful. Ever head of that yzerman guy? Remember when he couldn't win, and then he did and all of a sudden he's looked at as a different player.

OV and the caps couldn't win and then they finally figured it out.

not sure whether work ethic was ever questioned with some of the examples you mention.
criticism on Ovi was that he was one-dimensional - but I don't think anyone ever questioned his will to win?

Yes they clearly didn't change I guess.

Yzerman was 100% talked about as a player who only played offense and couldn't win. But now that he's won he's a leader and a complete player.

If you think that 22-23 year olds can't or won't grow and mature then you clearly don't know what you're talking about.

i'm not sayign that individually they cannot improve
but team/organization wise, there is something wrong/missing.

and on an individual level - there are definitely players that are willing to give up more and have a more 'playoff style' than others - already at an early age. (doesn't mean they would have won a SC, but in playoffs they tend to show up).

example: nylander, barrie never were and never will bring the same type of compete that players like Couturier / Landeskog bring. nothing wrong with that, but Leafs is missing these types of guys - I would argue except for Hyman and Rielly, none of the current roster has that mindset/attitude.

Nylander has been more involved than hyman. Hyman has been invisible. No hits, no gritt at all.

Matthews has been absolutely physically imposing.

How does an organization have a problem? That makes no sense. I can guarantee you that dubas and keefe (and Shanny) isn't sitting there saying don't try hard. That's (frank)ing stupid.

Love how every single person that can't put their bias/Leafs hate aside, are the only ones complaining about the clear and obvious penalty that Folingo took.
