It's also funny how we're satisfied with a solid but quiet outing but would have freaked the (frank) out if we knew this is what would happen the day he was drafted. - RealityChecker
Every team drafts a dud or two. There’s a Cam Barker for every toews it seems. Benning seems to have drafted 4 NHLers at the very least.
Funny you should mention it, but you know who did actually take full control in 2017? The best drafting GM in this team’s history, from Linden. - neem55
Arty57on Sportsnet threads must be an alt or buddy of his the way they bash Benning and praise Judd.
For a 5th overall pick he’s been a complete bust, much like Virtanen, but as long as they become serviceable NHL players it’s all good. Thankful Brackett took over in 2017 - Pacificgem
Complete crock are you getting this from Arty57 on Sportsnet? Most players with his injuries would not be playing pro now don't know if that rings a bell. Its a testament to OJ's talent and will he's persevered to come back and now start cracking into NHL.
I think Podz is going to be a great pick when he gets here next year. Might even make TT irrelevant - CallmeTiny
Yeah sure but for a competitive team, where the Canucks are headed, its good to have TT in the top 6 while Podz learns the NHL game in bottom six. He's going to be a fan favourite like Steamer the way Podz plays for sure.

It would be beautiful if we could get TT locked up on a 2 year deal but I haven't a hot clue how things are going to unfold during these times

He played 6 minutes, and I don’t recall seeing him at all in the second half of the second or the third period.

I have been watching what is going on with him. He is now top unit PP on the SKA team. He has had a very good start. A beautiful assist yesterday. Works like a bulldog always creating space and opportunities. He blocked a shot and went down like a ton of bricks and got up immediately limping and went into the corner and made a big hit.
He said he is excited for the season to finish so he can come here.

Love all of it and thanks for the Intel on Chris Faber - CallmeTiny
Daniel Gee , Cam Robinson CanucksAbbyfan2 are the guys to follow for Canucks overseas prospects updates and it looks like this year Chris Faber also jumped into that group .

This guy Chris Faber on Twitter sends some Podz updates - VANTEL
Chris Faber is the guy I quoted that provided stays that showed BB with BH was an offensive black hole. And boy did I get ridiculed for that. I think he does a good job providing evidence to back up his opinion.
I hear you but is that because of last night? If they’re out in four against the Blues/Stars then it’s going to start hurting again. As much as JTM has been a breath of fresh air for a stale franchise, I would have liked JB to have a bit more negotiating skill so not having to overpay.
Even JTM admitted that the Canucks gave up a lot to get him (in a recent interview). - bloatedmosquito
I struggle with this over pay. What was he worth & was gonna fetch from another team?
What if it goes 6 or 7? Don’t see the point in saying swept in 4 as a worst scenario unless 0 confidence.
My issues have been that 1) they paid too much; and 2) it was at the wrong time. You've basically addressed them (from your point of view) that 1) it's market rate though it might be at the higher end; and 2) they need to start winning some time.
So basically we're at a philosophical difference which boils down to the whole JB vision. I just think that JTM and TT (if he's signed) will be on downswings when the team is really ready to compete. You've addressed that with your opinions.
We can only sit back and watch. While the cap discussion is the flashpoint for fights around here, cap management becomes increasingly more important the closer you come to the cup. - RealityChecker
Why paid too much?
Wrong time? Great contract
The team is in its infancy to begin competing now. Has to start somewhere it doesn’t all of a sudden turn into a contender.
The cap is a challenge but not worth the exaggeration. Looking ahead to 2022 it’ll be in great shape.
When Boeser was injured & Ferland out we were on the bubble. JB goes out to get TT to go for the PO’s at a stiff potential rental price. That deal makes the cap appear to look much worse than ppl realize. Capfriendly which many don’t bother using is a great tool to run different scenarios.
