He still has at least 2 more games to redeem himself(unless Gaudette takes his spot). He played pretty decently during the regular season so I’m still holding out hope that he bounces back. - Nucker101
I just meant in general with Jake, not specifically the playoffs. He can be an impact player almost every night if he "applies himself", but we all know that and that argument.
Which is weird because I’ve seen and read multiple interviews where he says he enjoys that role. He’s a lying SOB. I think he tried to shadow Fiala for one shift but it only lasted about 7 seconds.
If the Canucks win this series, I’d like to see guys like Jake and Bo use their size more effectively to wear down the other team in a potentially longer series. Guys that big and fast should finish their checks hard and drive to the net with the puck instead of settling for perimeter wrist shots. If guys like EP and Fiala are mixing it up, there’s no excuse for these guys not to throw an extra hit or 2 per game when the opportunity presents itself. - Nucker101
This so much!
I'm surprised at how physical it's been so far and I'm really impressed with Petey fighting off checks and throwing the odd hit. I think someone has Sutter's family held hostage with the threat he better yard out his super-sized balls. This has been a fun series so far.

That’s Playoff (sorta) hockey baby!
I’ve loved the pushback throughout the lineup.
Myers, Rooster, Motter, Ep40 and JTM.
And yes. Even Sutter.

Disagree (noiswater) about the Canucks “reputation for being soft”. This is something that was earned in the Alain Vigneault, Sedin era. It’s just the most current memory we have of a successful team, so it’s the narrative we believe. Past teams were plenty tough, and not very skilled, hence the decades of playoff failure.
Canucks management have gone on record to say Makar and Pettersson were their top two guys, even if they’d have gotten the first overall. They just haven’t said who they would’ve taken with it.
Long story short, imo we’d still be in a very good place. - Pacificgem
Of course they have, but I don't know if we should take them at their word. They get number 1, I'm pretty sure Nico is a Canuck.
There was a lot of trade BB and sign TT instead talk prior to the restart. Anyway would be awesome to see both of them play in the line up. - NuckUp
Maybe, but there’s only one guy who has been consistently “trade Boeser” who you could label a hater, and I don’t think he is, he just sees it as the best way to acquire a high end player in another position. I disagree, but I appreciate his perspective:
Boeser is skating better than he ever has, that time off was massive for him. - Nucker101
Yes and would like to see him unload that shot like his rookie year. I'd thought on the top PP he would get some shots in but he's been more lurking for rebounds and passing.
Three elimination games down. Three teams finish the job. And two were lower-seeded: Arizona & Montreal.
Northy, you can add Phil Kessel lasted longer than the Pittsburgh Penguins to your list.
Next up: Will Taylor Hall outlast the Oilers?
The vibe is tense but committed among the hometown fans here in Edmonton. Heavy rain & wind earlier, but they're drying off the picnic tables at the outdoor viewing areas at the bars...
