ill be floored if any large scale changes are made.

schultz and marleau will be gone. thats about it.

Lose 9 of 10 playoff games, a shakeup should be in order.

I'll say it again. THREE high danger chances tells you all you need to know. Add the fact Sully puts his 4th line out with two minutes to go? It's almost as if Sully wants to be fired.

If that's the case, the window is officially slammed shut, if it wasn't already...

They've won ONE single playoff game in their last two series. Shake-ups in order.

Kick JR to the curb too.
- j.boyd919

I've been on the Rutherford bandwagon, but yeah, he needs a "promotion" to some executive position.

As odd as it sounds I feel like this team went all downhill the second they traded Kahun.

Yep. He is responsible for JJ and Sheary. I am now an unapologetic Sheary basher. He (frank)ing sucks and is not a playoff hockey player. JR failed miserably at the TDL. We would have been better off with Kahun and not wasting a 3rd on Marleau.

The thing is that I don’t see why Rutherford would put this on Sullivan when Sullivan’s biggest sin during the series was that he didn’t replace the bottom pairing. Rutherford doesn’t see Johnson as an issue either. Mario needs to take care of this mess or the wrong players are gonna get punished and we’re gonna come back worse next season.

You guys and Sheary. Sheary was the furthest thing that was wrong with this team. The furthest.

We definitely should not have done that. Even if he was a malcontent he was still playing well. I think we should have held on to him and figured out the situation in the offseason. If it was so untenable, we could have had a good trade with the long term in mind figured out instead of trading him at the deadline with only the short term in mind.

Sully and JR should do the honorable thing and just resign instead of getting fired. I would respect them if they did.

It's almost like he didn't watch Sheary's last two years here. Brutal. Especially playoffs. 2 goals in his last 38 playoff games.....and counting. I fully expect them to bring his awful ass back too. They'll sign him for 1.5 and we'll witness another repeat next year.

I'm going to say this again... Mario would never, EVER allow a stiff like that to play on his line. Just wouldn't happen. Dude can't score goals.

Warming up to the idea of landing Lafreniere. Between him and one/two of Poulin, Legare, or Hallender living up to their potential, half of the top 6 for the foreseeable future could already be in place.

I disagree. You play Rust on the top line from the start and there is a hell of a lot more cycle, chances, wearing out Weber and annoying Price. It was a walk in the park for them.

There is also the tone that it sets. You put a complete wuss on your top line, with another wuss on the other side, and you team mentality becomes that of a wuss. That's deflating.

oh make no mistake i totally agree with you. but i see status quo as more likely than not, assuming JR stays in.

murray needs to be gone. its jarry full time.
schultz gone, but at least replacing with something better than below average.
Johnson needs to be jettisoned into the sun. replacing by a rikola or anything in house is fine
they need a third line center. McCann can stick on the roster, but he cannot drive his own line.
all of those are necessities. i get the sheary female doging, i do. but improving upon him is more of a luxury than a necessity when viewed in the light of those other moves that need making. and thats just a lot of moving parts and swapping in a single offseason, much less when you consider the fact that the guy currently making the decisions doesnt view those things as problems in the first place. Had a hell of a run and it sucks to potentially acknowledge, but they don't have time for a two or three year reshuffling. it may simply be it.

Reacquiring Sheary was a mistake. Not a problem in the series, but the move overall was a poor decision when there were better options out there.

Dude can't do just about anything else, either. He knows where to be on the ice, he's fast and is a good passer, but that's it. Putting him in the top 6 is absolutely disgusting.

Sid and Geno were duds. Sure, Sid had a few magic moments, but neither elevated their game. It didn't matter who you put up there. Jake was quiet, too. Nobody elevated their games. No urgency. This is on the coach, my friend.

i wont go as far to say he isnt a problem. he is. but hes not the highest on the list. i get that it is deflating to watch him whiff, but its not as though other players even get in the (frank)ing spots to whiff consistently. and it doesnt get much more deflating than murray letting in trash or jack johnson being given a uniform night in and night out.

But he was a problem in the series. He lost every puck battle and board battle. Multiple turnovers. What do people see in him? Nice breakout plays here and there? So what? He's a zero the rest of the time.
