Save your vitriol for Tanner.
The question at bar is whether the risk is worth NYR signing him as he is due a new contract. Panarin is signed for 7 more years. Where are the parallels?
If the topic was which Rangers didn't show up against Carolina, you have a very valid point. But, you are way, way off just because you want to try and make "funny" comments toward Ek. Looking foolish.

What’s the backstory with his twitter/opinions?
- arichardson22

Arrogant (frank) who’s entitled and has been suspended/fined for abusing officials several times, including for using homophobic and racist slurs(although apparently those were more in junior). He’s a far-right Trump supporter, people in NYC hate Trump so he catches poop for it. To say his views are uncommon in hockey would be a lie, but most guys arent as vocal.

Blah blah blah far right, trump supporter, racial slurs so what.
The slurs maybe a problem or just opportunistic.
I’d be more concerned with attitude towards officials.
He seems like he’s probably a douchebag but I’d ask his teammates what they think then make my decision.

Exactly. Just imagine how Cody Ceci feels?
- gergeswillems

Cody Ceci will get his recognition after tonight’s game. With Muzzin out rumour has it he wants to pull a Malkin and be the man and he will do just that. He will put the Leafs on his shoulders and carry them to the playoffs. His trade value will than sky rocket and the placeholder team will than trade the#1 pick to acquire him.

Defend Gorton if you are so informed.
I’ll counter with what you leave out.

Cap space and Skjei hadn't played well in NY since he signed his contract. Whether or not he was misused or simply needed a change of scenery is open for debate

Time to add DeAngelo to the rumour chart. Maybe Montreal is interested? He can join Domi who is the other Trump supporter. The other 1,000 players are all for Biden. Makes sense.

Because he had a fantastic rookie season, got signed to a $5.25M x 6 year contract based on that and NEVER even came close to looking that good for the following 3 seasons. NYR have a number of 1st/2nd round defensive prospects knocking on the door and we got a 1st round pick in return for him. Next season is going to be tough cap-wise (even before Covid), so the savings were significant.
Wish him all the best, but his play against us leaves a pretty bad taste...

My bad. What I didn't put in there was that he finished out his ELC then signed that big deal rather than a bridge. They bet on the non-bridge deal hoping/expecting he would revert to the player we saw that rookie season.

They were able to get a 1st for him in a deep draft year that's why. Carolina panicked when Hamilton and Pesce went down so they had to overpay to find replacements in Skjei and Vatanen. 1st for Skjei and Kuokkanen for a playoff rental of Vatanen

I think Dumbdumb knows he's got 4 years to bring a Cup before the Aho deal is up

There are 3 aspects to his off-ice persona (assuming what I read here is true).

1. Trump supporter. Irrelevant. Tim Thomas was an arch-conservative while putting together some stellar seasons for the Bruins.

2. Public homophobe/misogynist.

https://twitter.com/Allis...2363170416652294/photo/1:

This is personally repulsive, but more to the point, professionally stupid for both team and him. It will clearly spill over from him to the team if it goes on (in today's age and in a place like NY). It will also means he never gets an endorsement.

He should be warned and given a chance to cut it out.

3. Making political fun of Fauci in his Twitter. He is free to disagree with his policies, but Fauci has served 4 Republican Presidents and is one of the most distinguished scientists alive based on publication rankings. To make him seem a political hack means the dude is likely an idiot.

Is being an idiot and a hot-head disqualifying for hockey? I honestly don't know. I suspect he might struggle in the cerebral aspect of the game -film study, improving his tactical play, discipline and so on.

In summary, he is young but there are some glaring red flags.

One incident is from 2014. Speaking of idiots, it's hysterical how you try and correlate someone with political views that you don't support who has made some mistakes when he is young with not being smart enough in certain aspects of the game. That comment by you is repulsive and offensive. What has he done since he has been in the NHL? He's entitled to his first amendment rights and having an opinion on Fauci. You're also not fooling anyone with the first comment on being a Trump supporter and calling it irrelevant. If it is irrelevant, why mention it?
He's a human being. That's the 3 aspects of his off ice persona? Also offensive.

I think you have mistaken me for someone else.
I do know that you often appear, take a pot-shot at someone and then disappear.
I know that you and your little group of friends wake up each day salivating over the thought of tormenting Tanner for his ineptitude.
I know that he deserves it, but...
I also know that it is getting pretty tired.
I also know that it is not going to change him or this website. So, enjoy your fruitless waste of energy.

You go, girl!!
