i'd say right now we have less than a 10% chance of winning the cup...but lets just pretend that is our odds...would you rather:
a 12% chance to win the cup?
or
a 12% chance to get Lafreniere - YouMeAndDupuis9
1 in 16 chance to win the cup 6.25% (assuming we beat Montreal)
1 in 8 Chance for Lafreniere 12.5%
and you get 12-15 years of Lafreniere
I still think we have a very deep roster this year, but thats a massive bright side if we can't get past the Habs. No silver lining to losing in the next round |

Pretty much - Tojo.
They do. Sheary has been one of the brighter spots of the Pens forwards in this series. |

I feel bad for having to look up Jake's number...
So that makes it... Zucker Crosby... Horny? |

Well, its been like... 5 months of keeping at home with this damn Covid stuff. A light breeze is making people Horny now
But, purely a guess. I do not know if it would be Sheary, Horny, or McCann up there. |

I’d know logically I’d prefer going after Lafreniere but I just can’t bring myself to not want to win.
I’m honestly fine with MM playing at this point of the series as jarry has had 1 game of action. JJ has to go though and rikki is the only person to replace him. If he doesn’t make this switch I’m done with sully. Just like sheary. (frank) that little poop. |

Sid has been putting a lot of pucks to the front of the net and jake and sheary are getting out muscled for them. Horny is one of the best in the business in front of the net, maybe he can get a stick on some of them.

Lafreniere extends the Crosby/Malkin era by quite a bit. And friends just imagine the butthurt league wide. |

We don't know if he's the real deal or if he is, will he hit the ground running right away? See Kakko and Hughes who both received more praise than Lafreniere.
I also don't think their window gets extended by anything more than filling out the defense properly and even then, I can't see the "window" going any further past the 20/21 season. Despite what people think of Sheary, Hornqvist, McCann, etc... this is a very good group of forwards. A young gun like Lafreniere would possiby help, but he doesn't change the systematic issues with this team. |

Oh I know man. I would love to get him! I just can’t not want to win. Now thankfully mtl is not in my ultra hate tier of other hockey teams so I could deal with the loss, especially if jj blows 3 more goals. But you know.. I just don’t want to lose haha |

The league dropped the ball in the worst way I think I've ever seen with that draft lottery debacle. They were in such a rush to have real hockey news and hype that they didn't think this through. They should have just waited and handled the lottery like normal when the season commences. |

Yeah but Lafrenier is Canadian so this is different. |

Lafreniere has been the consensus #1 since he was 15. He’s Matthews tier |

If we knew we were getting the #1 pick... I'd let the Canadians beat us 15-0 today just so all of the hockey internet explodes in rage. |

I'll believe it when I see it. Again, it's not like the Pens don't have wingers capable of scoring goals consistently. Scoring is not the problem here. |

IDK Lafreniere can't stop Sid, Geno, and Letang from aging. No doubt he helps in future years, but I don't think he keeps us from falling out of contender status in another year or 2. And maybe next playoffs, we do have a big injury. As bad as we've been, I still think the talent is there to compete and wouldn't want to waste a year.
Now watching the conspiracy theorists go nuts, that would be fun.

Here's what I will say if the Pens get Lafreniere; If Malkin leaves after this contract having someone like Lafreniere will definitely keep the Pens an attractive destination to sing a top level center.
If the Pens have something in Poulin, Legare and draft Lafreniere, you add that to Jake, Rust, Marino, etc... the Pens may only have to go through a re-tool instead of a rebuild. |

If the Pens lose to MTL how crazy do you guys think the annual Malkin trade rumors will be? |

I think the narrative of Malkin’s bounce back year has been so strong that it won’t actually be too crazy this year. I think we could get some Letang stuff though. Marino’s been so good that it’s pretty crazy that people still manage to overrate him. I think the combination of the Marino love affair and the fact that yinzers love to poop on Letang will lead to some very annoying chatter. |

I think his bounce back year will be completely fleeting if he doesn't even score a goal in this series, but yes, I can see the Letang crap as well. |

The Cup - Victoro311
I tend to agree... however a part of me wants to take into account that Lafrienere (theoretically) would allow us to contend for cups for the next 10 years... at bare minimum would maximize the sid geno era... |
