And I believe Pierre Dorion was on Murray's scouting staff for most of those picks. He's been a scout in some form or another with Ottawa since 2007.

The following players were drafted while Dorion was scouting for us (Chief amateur scout since July 2007 - AFTER the 2007 draft):

2008 - Karlsson, Zack Smith, Borowiecki
2009 - Silfverberg, Lehner, Hoffman
2010 - Stone
2011 - Zibanejad, Pageau, Dzingel
2012 - Ceci
2013 - Lazar, Högberg
2014 - Englund (No one really worth mentioning)
2015 - Chabot, White, Chlapik, Wolanin

Since becoming GM:
2016 - L. Brown
2017 - Formenton, Batherson
2018 - Tkachuk, Bernard-Docker
2019 - Thomson, Pinto

Dude's fingerprints have been all over this team for 12+ years. The Bryan Murray/Pierre Dorion era saw some outstanding draft selections. Here's to another decade plus of great drafting!

2008 - Karlsson (home run) rest were decent picks
2009 - Cowen (BIG BUST) Silfverberg (decent 2nd line forward) Lehner (inconsistent #1 goalie)
2010 - Stone (AMAZING pick)...but what else they have from this draft?
2011 - Zibanejad (Great pick) Nosen (fail) Puempel (fail) Prince (depth NHLer for a few years) Pageau (GREAT pick) Dzingel (good pick)
2012 - Ceci (fail as top 4D)
2013 - Lazar (fail) Hogberg (tbd)....what else?
2014 - nothing to show!
2015 - Chabot (GREAT pick) White (decent, tbd!) Gagne (fail) Chlapik (bottom 6 pick) Wolanin (good pick but still tbd)
2016 - Logan Brown (might be a bust!)
2017 - Formenton (seems to be decent pick but tbd) Batherson (great pick)
2018 - Bernard Docker (seems good but tbd), rest are tbd!
2019 - Too early

In the first 2 rounds the GM has the final word and makes the picks but in the later rounds maybe round 3-7 it's the chief scout and his staff that decide. The proof is the amount of deals made by the GMs to move ahead after round 2.

I actually really like PD as a scout, I think he's done some great work in that department. I even like the team he's building now. I don't like him as a GM because I don't find he's aggressive when it comes to trades and going for it.

Ottawa has always had a problem with building a team 90% of the way and then restarting a rebuild or retooling.

But this time, we literally cleared house of all the BS in the locker room and are building from the ground up with prospects.

I like that, it's exciting and as long as it's done properly we'll be setup for long term success.

That's one of the reasons I hate going back to the old 2D jerseys. Because we really have nothing in the teams history to celebrate, we've never won anything. I'd rather have something new to rally around like the team is new.

I was thinking this morning. The Pens just got knocked out and are clearly at a point where either a rebuild or retooling needs to happen. But they aren't going to be getting rid of Crosby or Malkin. But they have no prospect pool and unless they get #1. it's not looking to good.

I wonder if it would be worth exploring the option of trying to make a deal of Letang?

Would be a cap dump for the Pens and a Solid #2 D behind Chabot.

Imagine, a top 4 D of...

Chabot - Drysdale
Letang - Brännström

I listed the players who became regular Senators (and who are good prospects). That wasn't a list of superstars. Lol The argument is solely that Dorion has been contributing to this roster for over 10 years. Half of the forwards you ice every night play bottom six. So yes, half of those players in the list are bottom six players.

Get a freaking clue, people.

Never said it was all Dorion. You'll notice at the end I said Murray/Dorion as a pair.

Again, get a clue, people. Learn how to read.

You don't think he was aggressive going after Duchene? Or moving up to draft L. Brown? Dorion has the balls to go after a guy he wants. Just his owner keeps telling him to sell, sell, sell.

By comparison, look at Montreal's draft history and tell me how many of those guys became NHL players.
