Stole this from somebody on DK's site...

Here are the stats at 5 on 5. There are 24 teams.

The pens are being outscored 8 to 4.

Montreal is tied for most 5v5 goals scored.

The Pens have more shots attempted and lead in scoring chances 37-28.

Murray high danger save % is 80.77 (team ranks 14th). Price is 88.46 (6th)

Low danger… Pens rank 20 out of 24.

Overall 5v5 save percentage is Price 7th at 94.81 and Murray 20th at 89.87.

And here’s the clincher. Medium danger save %… Price tied for 1st at 100%. Murray 20th at 87.5%

Murray just isn’t good enough.

Sid has always had that winger that is a speedy, strong forechecker. Sheary is as weak as they come. Put McCann back there or start rotating players until someone fits.

The “3rd line” needs to be completely scrapped. Hornqvist and Marleau provide nothing. You might as well put players you know who will at least skate and hit. Lafferty-McCann-Rodrigues. Tell them to their only job is to pester the other teams players.

Score a f'n playoff goal and I'll shut up. I don't want to hear all this speed game crap from Sheary 'cause he doesn't score goals next to one of the best players/passers on the planet. Now 2 in his last 36 playoff games. 0 Shots tonight.

Stupid mistake to bring him back.

Zucker, Sid, Rust
Jake, Geno, Hornie
Tanev, Bleugs, ZAR
Sheary, McCaan, Rod.

Letang, Dumo
Pets, Marino
Riiki, Ruh.

Shake it up Sully.

I like this lineup. It makes perfect sense. So of course it won't happen.

I think it's 2 in his last 37 playoff games, but who's counting?

Seriously, though, why give Crosby the two weakest board battlers on the team? Sully's got nothing on Johnston in terms of neutering his best player. I can't recall one extended zone cycle for Crosby's line since they started playing again. Great line for breakout rushes, but that's it.

All we hear about is fancy stats this and fancy stats that. The best statistic for top 6 players is goals. If you don't score them or assist on a bunch of them your not a top 6 player.

I'm going to say this again.... Mario would NEVER let a stiff like that ride shotgun on his line when better options exist.

That guy from the Athletic basically called everything in his pre-playoff review. Weak links.... Sheary, JJ and Murray. Hire his ass.

Yep, I was saying that, too, and have been for a long time. This better be the last season we see Sheary but I'm sure they'll try to re-sign him. Murray's value has to be tanking so they'll probably try to re-sign him on the cheap, too. And apparently JJ is a staple no matter how poorly he plays. Of course he never gets injured, either, even though the rest of the Pens drop like flies every year. I think JR's ego is probably tied to Sheary and JJ. Like a gambler who doubles down on a bad hand.

There have been a number of good coaches available recently (AV, Trotz, Julien, etc.), I just hope there is one when the Pens finally come to their senses. I wouldn't mind if JR was put out to pasture, too. This past TDL was just plain negligent. And the big off-season move? Tanev and his ridiculous contract. I like him a as a player and he's worth it this year, but nobody else was going to come close to that contract.
