Well said.

If a political entity: person/legislature/party or even a tradition (like Confederate statues) is incompetent/ignorant/insensitive, a reasoned, fact-based pointing out of these issues should not be seen as political baiting.

I don't have time right now, but later today/tomorrow I will be posting a short summary of some recent developments in the Covid 19 front, just in case its useful to anyone.

- PT21

Way to keep the people informed, will be looking forward to the update.

If you insist on doing so, write your own blog where that can be the topic. Leave this blog for discussing hockey and the Flyers.

Obviously you didn’t serve in the military. It is there right to do so but I consider it ignorant to all who sacrificed.
- Peter Richards

Just a word to the wise.

There is nothing - in the history of our flag, in our anthem, in our constitution, or in our traditions, that equates the flag exclusively with the armed forces.

Lets say someone wants to believe the flag is about American country music. Lets say someone wants to believe its about the First Amendment. Lets say someone wants to believe its about diversity, as manifested in the motto e pluribus unum. Lets say someone wants to believe its about Elvis Presley or anything that is uniquely American.

There is absolutely nothing that is in any of our conventions or traditions that would make them wrong. It represents Labor Day and MLK day and Memorial Day and July 4th and it is flown at half mast when an important person dies even if that person has nothing to do with the Armed Forces.

The kneeling before the flag was never intended to have anything to do with the military or Law and Order. It represented a protest against a symbol of America and by implication, some of it's laws and traditions. There is nothing unpatriotic against it. There is no disrespect of the armed forces implied at all.

The equation: kneeling = disrespecting soldiers was started by the right wing blabbermouths, and intended for the audience of the weak-minded.

You are free to claim membership in the last, but cut the crap about flag and armed forces, please.

Personally, I choose to stand when attending an event that involves the national anthem and the American flag. My dad served and I know countless others who have.

I am not against anyone kneeling. I understand why it's done and the message that's intended when kneeling.

I just wish people would understand that folks that kneel and folks that stand can be on the same side and support each other. Seems like a lot of folks forget that.

- mickel25

This is the whole thing in a nutshell right now. People that don’t kneel should also not be criticized and have their values questioned.

I won’t kneel because much of my family has/is served in the military. I stand with them out of respect for them. They won’t kneel because that is against the code of honor. They shouldn’t be criticized after the sacrifices they have made to protect our freedom.

Exactly. Not to mention that he has been shown to have a poor grasp of the facts in the past.

Kent Manderville was a terrific penalty-killing fourth line center for the short while he was in Philadelphia.

If your writing, information provided, and opinion carry any weight, writing it in your own blog is where that can sussed out. Otherwise you're just hijacking a popular topic/blog to meet your own selfish desires.

Absolutely amazing Corsi differences between the Coots line and the Bergeron line. If that doesn't tell you who deserves the Selke, I don't know what will.

Hockey is back. Let's not talk about anything political.
- MJL

Agree 1000 percent. But, unfortunately, we have players that are bringing their politics into an arena where it does not belong. We would never be talking about this if they just stuck to hockey. THAT is why I can't stand it when they tarnish the game with their personal political pet peeves. Do it elsewhere and on their own time.

to be fair, SSB did ask a question. PT21 didn't exactly hijack the blog. As much as I might agree with PT21's point of view on subjects like this I would prefer not to see it posted here. Maybe next time you could respond directly to SSB?

While I don’t agree on the selke being based off that game but that Bergeron line probably has less than a handful of those games a year which is impressive from our unit, this being a restart and all.

No worries, my man. There will be nothing political about it at all.

In conversations with some folks, I have discovered that there are recent news things that people seem to be unaware of. It will be an altruistic, public service post, made in difficult times, and it will be one and done.

Nothing will be hijacked or diverted anymore than those who are doing exactly that in wasting their breath unsuccessfully trying to preempt me.

Fear derailment of hockey discussion? Then prove it and discuss hockey. Don't post 20 times in another Hockeybuzz thread the same day, minutes earlier, on your opinions on Marxism and BLM and then claim to be virginal about the purity of Hockeybuzz re: politics.
