Oh, yeah. It was off-colour and inappropriate. However, having exchanged comments with the guy for a few years and never seeing anything else like it, I figured it was a poor attempt at humour. No one else gave him that benefit of the doubt.

It's a shame that the team wasn't enough to get it done, because he definitely was. Put Hank behind Carolina and give The Rangers Mrazek and I think the series is the same though.

Shouldn't the real issue be, then why is the team crumbling after 1 bad goal? They're still in the game and it's up to them to score more and not just give up. And if you're going to use the excuse that they're young, then Hank gets the excuse that he's old and lost a step. And in that case, everyone is at fault for losing.

Fair enough. But, I don't think that was the case. All reports out of Camp 2.0 was that Hank looked very sharp. I doubt that would have been enough to get him into the game if Shesty were 100%, even given his history with the Canes.
Basically, all of 2020 Quinn showed that he was willing to make the unpopular decision and sit Hank when he was not the best option. I have my doubts that he couldn't make the tough call now.

Young and inexperienced or not, these guys are professional hockey players. If being down by one goal is enough to make them fold their tent, we need to issue another letter and start this rebuild over.

I don't agree that it was for sentimental reasons. If Shesty couldn't go they said Hank was great in camp - as was Georgiev. But Hank does have years and years of playoff experience, and he was lights out against Carolina this year, downright dominating them. Plus he had 4+ months off, so he couldn't be tired. I really think that was more the reasoning, not sentimental reasons.

Lots of churn here, but here’s my take. The whole team has looked off, including Hank. I think we decided to give Hank his final shot, and there’s an argument to be made that he deserved it. The consolation prize is a draft lottery. I think we should keep starting him for as long as we survive. Then I’d like to see him make a graceful exit. That can be the last jewel in his crown.
