I'm not a big watcher of other NHL games, but every time i do, Corey Crawford is so (frank)ing good

Speaking about other games, I noticed games one and two for Calgary that judging statisticly via boxcscores ex Blackhawk GUS has done alright. How do you explain that. Anyone hear or see Gus skatimg for Calgary this playoff.

I guess he's logged almost 5 to 6 minutes on the PP last 2 games. Only 12 at even strength

Still hilarious in his own zone.

For all the consternation about the Hawks having to face McDavid and Draisaitl, they still have to face Toews and Kane.

Dang... one thing I missed in my notes that I aanted to cover is how well the Hawks 4th line played.

They contained the Oilers top lines which freed up the Hawks offensive players to play offense.

Unpossible. I have read many times that Kampf and Highmore bring nothing to a team

In all seriousness, I still laugh at the minimal credit that is given to the ability to keep pucks out of your own net.

Prolly turning the puck over at the blue line. He and the puck aren't friends. He needs to just get the puck deep instead of trying to make plays at the blue line. Maddening.

So I was WFH today and streaming hockey games all afternoon.

I'm now watching Vegas and Dallas and hoping that Reeves catches Perry in a "vulnerable" position.

There is no empirical evidence to show this is true. And the departed Eric Gustafsson had a heck of a lot of SHG against.
- scottak

No empirical evidence here, but my eyes see that Keith is very good at walking the line and holding the puck in - not very good at getting shots thru to the net.

He’s probably good at being the PP quarterback if you don’t look for him to be the shooter - keep the puck, move it around, make the pass (or the shot pass)....

I ran into Debrincat (nearly literally) on the lake front trail in Chicago. He's definitely in the 5'7 range but built like a fire hydrant. Big shoulders, thick neck, calves the size of my thighs - looked like a dude who spends a lot of time in the gym.

He has been noticeably faster and stronger on the boards this year. I don't think it is a fitness issue.

His shooting percentage was down significantly. 8.6 this past year vs 15.5 and 18.6. About the same amount of shots. So what was the difference?

His power play numbers, interestingly enough were in line with last season.

Hmmmm. The biggest factor seems to be a huge dump in shooting percentage. Per 60 his TOI, scoring changes and high danger chances are all about the same. He just had the yips.

Being up and down the line up maybe not helpful. The oh crap I'm getting paid now and need to produce pressure could be getting to him. Normally guys have a bridge to adjust. He whacked a lot of posts and was in the right position for most of the season though just didnt pull twine.

If he starts chasing his game in the next few games by forcing things or taking runs at guys for energy reasons and crap like that then maybe his status with the club needs to be evaluated again.

Too many one-timers and slap shots, not enough quick, accurate wristlet that used to just eat up the goalie - the netminder never knew exactly when the shot was coming, where from on the angle, where to on the net.

Could be too muscle bound for his frame? Not able to make the plays or shots he used to. If he could look at what works for him vs what works for Kane as far as improving their on ice capability through weight training

I think once the season ends and the players go into their offseason programs we may hear or learn more , should cat choose to speak out regarding his underwhelming performance this season.

I was curious on everyone's opinion regarding zach Smith. I thought he played better than expected but wasn't a game breaker.
He imo played well with nylander and I think that's what's missing most is a veteran like that who a youngster can play with and grow more confident and consistent in his game.

13 Cardinals test positive

2nd major outbreak for the MLB just 2 weeks into the season

They will inevitably have to cancel the season and I can’t stress enough how bad Manfred and the MLB look right now for not using a bubble/hub cities. Apparently some of the Cardinals players were spotted at a casino. (frank)ing morons. They all deserve to be sick.

Meanwhile the NBA, NHL, MLS, etc are all humming along just fine/without a single positive test.

Don’t gloat.

All it would take would be one positive staffer / hotel employee / etc. to start a chain reaction mimicking baseball’s.

ADB was interviewed when camps started back up. He was actually quite pleased with his performance. He was happier with his overall game and said that the points will come. He said that the coaches were happier with his overall game as well. Everyone expects that his point will come back up if he keeps doing what he is doing. I'll try and find the article.

Edit: Zach Smith is what he is. He plays a relatively low risk/smart game, but he is quite slow and doesn't provide anything over what one of our younger guys would bring to the table.

He is better player now than he was last season. He has done nothing but score at every level he has played. His "off" year was going to be ~50 points. He will be fine and I expect his numbers will reflect it next season.

How’s that gonna happen inside a bubble? Anyone that wants to enter the bubble needs to test positive before they can enter.

Just checked scores and see Dallas is up 3-1 on Vegas. Lehner is in net and gave up the goals on 18 shots. YEESH. Why is Lehner in goal - is something wrong with MAF?

I was looking forward to him being a solid 4th like guy...... but nope he does suck. Always behind the play. Let’s hope that era is over. Also hope that was one of McDs players that he meddled his way into getting.
