Not to throw cold water on hockey being back, but for those of us that haven't been able to give it up in our advancing years, Governor Pritzker might have done just that for us. Announced today, effective 8/15 forward (effectively killing Men's leagues throughout IL IMO until next Spring at the earliest):

Hockey is listed under the "higher" risk level.
Meaning ONLY no-contact practices and trainings
No scrimmages
No games/competitive play

So here's what official document says:

The level of play allowed is dictated by current public health conditions.
Below are the Type of Play Levels:
Level 1: No-contact practices and trainings only
Level 2: Intra-team scrimmages allowed, with parental consent for minors;
no competitive play
Level 3: Intra-conference or Intra-EMS-region1or intra-league play/meets only;
state-or league-championship game/meetallowed for low-risk sports only
Level 4: Tournaments, out-of-conference/league play, multi-team meets, out-of-state play allowed;championship games allowed

Current Conditions Allow for the Following Types of Play per Sport Risk Level:

I'm not advocating for or against (the only sport I play anymore is golf which is wide open where I live), but IL has been sub 5% positive test rate since second half of June. In the last two weeks it has started creeping up a bit closer to 5%. That might be the reason for the new regs.

Kubalik came is ready to fire pucks tonight. Just keeps letting it go.

In the Exhibition I've seen so far the refs are really sensitive on holding, they could almost call it a penalty for "Touching". Don't actually have to hold, just touch them with the glove and it's a penalty.
