Not a fan of the new slogan either and really hate the amateurish ad campaigns they have with graphic design done on Microsoft Paint and a font that I believe even pre-dates Times New Roman.

As for the direction of the franchise, I find it refreshing and a good step in the right direction even if the details aren't laid out yet. Look to the future with embracing what is modern and integrating innovation.

From the article...."ensuring that our internal culture is an inclusive culture."

Methinks this is a good bit of why McD is gone.

”Inclusion”...just another buzzword of the Anti-freedom Marxist crowd.

There is great concern - or there should be - everyone is in good playing shape. Realistically the focus this mini series might be, whom is not in descent shape.

Edmonton is a speed team Yada Yada yada

Now I present two dmen both all reports and the eye test indicate have been impressive with a good camp.

Are you going to give KK an opportunity to keep playing well? Will he perform well against that speed and against certain lines when Edmonton has the home ice last line change.

Or do you rush to judgment and yank Maata, not KK. Remember chemistry and KK/Maata has experienced success as a pair late in the regular season.

And if you substitute Carlsson, he has not been playing regularly with a top pair dman in camp. Although Carlsson can play both sides, if he has not been playing both sides regularly now is not ideal time to replace someone and be playing on his other side

You could surmise that KK came to camp determined to be in shape. I am leaning to allowing KK starts with Maata. If either KK or Maata appears to be loosing most board battles or gets beat often by speed, I have to consider one or both is pulled. The handwriting is on the wall more as for earning and keeping a job.right now as far as KK goes

Lots of kids could be elbowing him out of a job. In this mini camp.we have heard how some prospects on defense have looked good...having benefitted from an AHL.season.

MLB is gonna have to cancel the season and shut it down. This is also gonna end college football/delay it until the spring and force the NFL to use a Bubble.

I have never gotten the sense that Kane enjoys playing with Nylander, and when asked to comment on his skills, Kane replies with the faint praise of "potential." If you listen to his comments on Dach and others as a comparison, you can see that is not a ringing 88 endorsement.

Will forever wonder what Kane's relative stats lines would look like if paired with someone like Panarin throughout his career (the way some of his peers have enjoyed) and whether the Nylander in the top six is one area where the FO is pressuring the coaching staff.

- pdx2ord
(frank) Kane and his individual stats. The Hawks were winners when they had depth and he didn't score a 100 points per year. For everyone that wants him to be the teams captain, this should prove why he shouldn't. He's a little female dog

Kane getting upset is much ado about nothing to me. It was a good scoring opportunity and he probably had something to say to Nylander but so what. I take it more of a kick in the ass type of thing.
- Elbows15
Agreed. Hossa used to stare a hole in Saad when he made a mistake, but i doubt he didn't like him or want to play with him like the experts here think.

Just cheapening the Cup a little more . This sham tournament in hub city with no fans 5 months after the season ended .!!! with it Pee Wee format is just another Bettman gimmick to go with the rest of the stunts he introduced to hockey over the years . Bettman and his creepy owners sell out the integrity of the NHL every chance they get for a few dollars and a rating point .

In The Athletic, an interview with Danny by Powers - basically an extension of the Sun Times article. Not much meat, but a lot of good thoughts - they seem to be going in a good direction - perhaps the right direction - in terms of outreach, inclusion, diversity, etc. - we will see how it all works out over time. Not much different on the logo other than what was disseminated last week.

These are hard issues that won’t be solved in weeks or even months, but at least they’re having the right thoughts and saying the right words. We’ll see.

The only new thing I got was Danny saying, in response to a question, that “ I can confirm Stan has a multi-year contract, without going into much more detail.”

Not much more on the on-ice product other than they seem happy with Bowman and Colliton, and with the direction of the team.

I gotcha, and I hope you’re right about us giving the young defenseman as many minutes as possible.

I just keep seeing/reading everywhere that we have to get rid of one of Saad/Strome no matter what else happens.

- SimpleJack

Nobody will takes Saad's $6m he's a keeper. Only way to trade defense men is to get same salary back. Have to buy them out. I don't think Rocky as well as the other owners are in a spending mood. Otherwise, there would have been compliance buyouts.

Right Bettman started salivating as soon as he seen the rating for the NFL draft . He would have restarted the season right there and then if he could have let the public be dammed
Could have waited what another two months and started the next season on time instead we have two season with stink on them and a draft lottery that is the laughing stock of pro sports .Now when will next seasons start this will be a tipping point for NHL scheduling games in the summer as regular event ice quality who cares give them a ball to play with . .As for Greed Bettman and the boy's had no problem shutting the NHL down no Cup awarded to shove a cap down the players throat .

I would think that the owners feel they are spending by keeping the cap ay $81MM - or at least that they are up-fronting the cash, as the players will have to pay back the difference between the cap and their 50% share over several years through the escrow.

At least, that’s how I understand it.

Honestly, he did a good deal for literature with psychoanalysis (critical theory lens) & bringing the author into the discussion among other things.

Definitely the more in-depth article of the two - good questions from Powers. Reading it at 1am last night, I got "word salad" from Wirtz more than anything, but that was probably my brain function at the time..

I did get the sense he will likely end up in the President's job for the next year or two. Didn't seem to be much energy going into finding the replacement until they have their new approach in place (odd to wait unless you want a President who is basically a figurehead).

Stan definitely seems safe for now.

Will be interesting to watch it play out. As others have said, the motto change doesn't inspire a ton of confidence (at least for me).

My question to the panel is if hawks get smoked and embarrassed does this change the mind of the upper management. In the sense of is bowman and JC combo the right people to get the blackhawks back to becoming a legit cup contender year after year.

My wife would get mad as she and our daughter and me go to say a Spanish seafood restaurant and my daughter and I start spending time dissecting (guessing the ingredients) and who we can make it..."Just enjoy it, said, Grandma.)

I have always loved Dr. Seuss!

Having a galvanizing vision and clear strategy is obviously important, but you've got to have someone who can translate that into tangible objectives and a logical action plan for implementing the changes necessary to achieve those objectives. Right now, it sounds like they have developed the former and aren't really sure how to execute the latter. I'd think there would have already been a fairly well defined plan for what they hope to accomplish before and during the 2020-21 season.

That said, COVID brings a level of uncertainty that negatively affects all such activity. Reorganizing the front office may have been the primary objective for this coming year. Maybe they are looking to those remaining to come up with the action plans for their own areas.

- pdx2ord

Spot on! The Management Consultants can do a pretty good job of setting things up, but unless the organization has dynamic leaders and an excellent team of employees, nothing much is going to happen.

I've been blessed to put in 30+ years with one of the world's most admired companies, with a production system that's been copied and implemented world wide. Without the synergistic, 'team first' attitude of both leaders and associates, we'd be average, not knocking out $20B plus profits year after year.

I hope the Hawk's reorg is successful, and that young Wirtz is a quality leader.

And to wait to see what the economic landscape will be in a year or two.

Very good point - difficult to plan even short-term right now.
