I agree not in playoff mode was taking it easy. He was probably bored playing them. Just from past playoff series he was a defensive liability and yes there are more then him that needs to step up defensively
- ganou60

You left out the fact he scored more goals than any player on either team and was vastly underplayed by the coach.

Matthews is the best 5 on 5 goal scorer in almost 3 decades. He can play bad defensively and still kill you.

Agreed could be very boring to watch. Price will be very busy and will need to stand on his head to at least keep it close

...and somehow, fans will pin this on his head.

Huh? Blue Jackets can't score. How is that the only way Leafs can win? BJs have more question marks than the Leafs do. THere's no Panarin and Duchene this year in the playoffs for them.

If BJS don't shut that deep and skilled top 9 down AND get timely goals they are gone quick.

Forgot they lost those 2 havent really thought about all the changes to the teams. Not a leafs fan at all but do hope a Canadian team can make a run. Toronto def has the talent.

Liked (or disliked?) what I saw from Nick Robertson last night. He's going to be a good player...He's a guy I was hoping to see the Habs pick in the second round, but I guess they felt they needed a defenseman more.

Panarin and Duchene were their 2 leading scorers in the playoffs. Their forward group is pathetic.

The Leafs are killing it in drafting since Dubas took over. He also traded down and got Sandin and SDA

So off topic Elliotte Friedmans beard has to go. Almost spit my beer out when the first intermission came on and they showed him.

He’s looking increasingly like Brent Burns’ long lost brother...

And Belzile being injured doesn’t mean a youngster will get a chance since he was dressed as the extra forward allowed last night. There won’t be extras once the real games start.

If I were Dubas I'd also be looking at Robertson to see if he could help me right away. Some low cost players that can come in and offer you options is helpful, especially for a team in the Leafs' situation cap wise.

Oh yeah and the signings of Mikeyev and Lehtonen will help a lot.

When was Robertson signed, last year? Is that why he can play in this tournament?

Max Domi on the 4th line...I guess it's about easing him in because he arrived at camp late...

Also, I think the Pens have been practicing as a group for about 3 weeks before it was allowed in Montreal by Quebec's governement...I think it will show...not that it matters anyway.

I thought Domi and KK were the best centres last night.

Despite Suzuki's awesome pass for the goal on the powerplay, his line didn't do much at 5 on 5. Except from a few flashes from Drouin.

really eh? I thought Domi was more invisible, I was expecting more from him, but perhaps he had trouble keeping up with his linemates, it must be hard to adjust to that level of play...

Well it's Price's fault that Bergevin says once were in the playoffs with Carey we have a chance.

He managed to give weal and Weise a few scoring chances (weise missed an open net) while not getting scored on.

I thought his decision making process with the puck was atrocious.
passed it when should have taken a shot many times. the effort was there though.
