While tanner and I have very different opinions on hockey, I don’t mind a movies list from someone once in a while, after all I did work at a blockbuster in high school.

Nice thing about hockeybuzz is that the readers here come from all walks of life. While some of us have similar hockey opinions I can bet most of us would have very different movie opinions due to the relatable experiences we’ve had through life. Sure there’s your back to the future, raiders of the lost ark that will always be around top 5 but when anything after that is subjective to viewers’ taste. Personally my top 3 is top gun, dazed and confused, and fast times at ridgemont. I don’t expect anyone else to have this top 3 because top gun was my favourite movie since I was 5 and the other 2 are cult classics which I strongly gravitate towards

Dumb and Dumber should have been on the list.

Bill Meltzer would be all over this. But Tanner is probably watching Back to the Future for the 100th time. Is it possible that ownership is tired of Chayka treading water and then embarrassed by his cheating scandal with amateur prospects? Or maybe just Covid? Again, a real pro would report on this.

New management always likes their own guys in charge. Heck I’ve worked for a company for 5 years and I have more time in there than both my bosses combined. We got bought, and out the main guy had a COMPLETE meltdown and my other two bosses made small mistakes but had a large enough track record to get canned. Now the new bosses bring in their own people and well that’s another story.

Point is the scandals you listed, the not so good track record, new bosses, and the only other thing on chayka’s resume being running an advanced stats website don’t bode well for him. He made some good trades I’ll give him that but the yotes aren’t really in a better position than when he took over. Actually when you factor in to where they were cap wise when he took over, the brutal mishandling of players like Domi, duclair, strome he actually faired out worse. Now factor in to how tanner points out how these are the “go for it” years for the yotes because their best players are in their prime, isn’t this one of those teams that are on the bubble that will probably never win and should rebuild the correct way. I mean that would be an insane amount of luck to put on kemper’s shoulders to win it all. Putting your hopes and dreams on 1 out of 19 players playing isn’t exactly a recipe for success

Haha that could probably have been a good title, but I wouldn’t put tanner as a Jim Carey person enough to make the list. I can’t tell what kind of comedy he likes but I don’t think shut your brain off and let it melt is his. Personally I can’t stand Will Farrell enough to find the humor in step brothers which everyone I know would probably put as #1 on this list

Were you one of the ones that would judge people or explain what the director was attempting to do while filming as you checked them out? Or, was that a Southern Ontario Blockbuster thing??? Really miss that now as I spend 45 minutes flipping through Netflix instead of wandering around the shelves.

haha, well I didn’t do that but I don’t know about other people. When most people returned their movie they talk about what they did or didn’t like I just go along with it since the customer is always right.

I don’t find searching through Netflix too different from walking the shelves. I would say that going to the store you’re more willing to take a chance on a movie you’re undecided on due to the impulse of not going home empty handed after making the trip where if you don’t find something on Netflix it’s not really an inconvenience. The other benefit to the store was the consistent flow of movies that came out shortly after leaving the theatres that you missed

Tanner, I’d have had a difficult time conjuring a list. You certainly have a style and era, that’s for sure. We’re gonna disagree on Nick Cage, but c’est la vie

I’m not really sure if I have a top _ list in regards to greatest movies all time. I certainly have a few that I can watch at any time when they’re on. Y’know, they kind you put down the remote when you see that they’re on TV and say “alright, this’ll do”

Godfather and Godfather II, of course
Pulp Fiction
Fargo
Raging Bull
The Deer Hunter
Snatch
The Big Lebowski
Rocky
Goodfellas
Casino
Reservoir Dogs
The Usual Suspects
The Shining
Monty Python - Holy Grail and Life of Brian. Niche picks for sure.
Annie Hall
Rounders
The Departed

Not calling them the best of all time. A few would probably make a fair amount of people’s lists, though. Shawshank would be another, but damn I’ve just seen it too many times.

You rarely find flicks like Seven Samurai, Dr. Strangelove, Yojimbo, and Citizen Kane on TV, but they’re up there for me. I know, I know, Citizen Kane is rather cliché, but it was groundbreaking. Kurosawa definitely influenced western screenwriters as well.

The Coyotes will be changing divisions when Seattle joins the NHL. Seems like something fans might be interested in. How about some analysis? Does it increase or decrease travel for them? What's been their winning percentage versus each division? Bueller? Bueller?

Embarrassing that you didn't have Ray Whitney on this list. 24th in team scoring at 134pts over 157 games through two seasons with this gongshow of an organization. Yet Hossa is on here because of the cap.
