Tyler, does Kubalik's pro experience in europe count towards his pro years of experience for the expansion draft? - ToewsdNKanefusd
No, it doesnt. Same scenario was with Panarin. Kubesy is safe from Seattle.

On the Fox broadcast of the Cubs-Brewers game yesterday, the network “virtually” filled the stands with computer generated fans. (Or should that be “literally” filled the stands with “virtual” fans?)
One fan interfered with a fly ball down the left field line that the Cubs’ left fielder could have caught.... - StLBravesFan

By those calculations, I was in third grade.
I grew out of baseball quickly for football & hockey. More of a Diamondbacks fan than anything when I was younger (weird, I know.) 2001 was a good year for that team, not New York, for a couple of reasons. I'd take Sox over Cubs though.
17 seconds tops them all. |

Eddie "the Entertainer" Shack passed away at 83. He played in the 60's mostly with Toronto. I remember he and Bobby Hull getting into some fisticuffs a few times. |

AS a prankster, Eddie Shack was a beauty. While playing for the Kings he used to hide Ross Lonsberry's dentures. After a game there were a few mad scrambles looking for Lonsberry's teeth as chartered flights were not a thing yet and they had to catch a flight. Sometimes he'd give them back on the plane. The guy was nuts. |

Has the 31-man bubble roster been announced yet? I read something about all 4 goalies went to Edmonton and we know Seabrook didn't go - so who are the 27 skaters who "made the cut"? |

Tyler I enjoyed your blog. Its fascinating to look back and say wth was stan thinking. Just about everyone he protected is no longer in chicago.
Imo that was stan's chance to shed some salaries. Regarding your option choices while I cant say I like them all option 3 seems more likely.
I don't see a future for Crawford or saad in chicago . Chicago is in a weird situation some young pieces ,, but a aging core with hefty salaries and nmc .
Murphy would be a reliable cheap defensive player, with Chicago loaded up with young kids and keith and seabrook still anchored to this team that's where I see a great way to shed some cap space.
Crawford imo plays 1 more season at best I strongly believe and saad gets traded to create cap space and pick up a young prospect. |

Chayka is officially done in ARI.
Steve Sullivan will take over as GM, likely with Interim tag.
I remember a certain blogger calling out Steve Sullivan as potential option in CHI... guess not now.
Interesting to see what happens with Chayka. |

From NBC Sports Chicago, scouting the enemy:
Nugent-Hopkins - McDavid - Kassian
Ennis - Draisaitl - Yamamoto
Athanasiou - Sheahan - Archibald
Neal - Khaira - Chiasson
Klefbom - Larsson
Nurse - Bear
Russell - Benning
Koskinen
Smith
Nurse is still unfit to play. If I recall, Sheahan is not ready either. |

Good call on Sullivan. Let him get some experience first in Arizona, then he can replace Bowman in due time. |

There are 35 on the camp roster so 4 need to be cut.
Seabrook is a given, so that's one.
Guessing Tomkins didn't make the cut as several tweets today make reference to the other goalies but not him. So that's two.
In pictures of the team getting ready to fly out, Regula was in one of them despite skating very little in scrimmages. I thought he was for sure to be cut.
My guess on the last two cuts are Quenneville (injury) and one of Johnson or Krys.
Based on play in scrimmages, I'd opt for Johnson. He was making an impact playing alongside Sikura and Kurashev who were flying all of camp.
Krys was playing wing but looked lost out there as he was constatly playing below the circles which would be fine if he was a blueliner. Keep him at D, please. |

Guessing that Colliton won't be straying from the lines in camp. If so, the Hawks starting lineup likely looking like:
DeBrincat - Toews - Saad
Nylander - Strome - Kane
Caggiula - Dach - Kubalik
Carpenter - Kampf - Highmore
Keith - Boqvist
de Haan - Murphy
Maatta - Koekkoek
Crawford
Some of the wingers may be flip-flopped LW to RW and vice versa. |

How do you pick up cap space trading Saad? Stan would probably like to know? |

One of the few guys Bobby actually went after.
Shack was a bit loose with his stick, looked where thereof was and then went for the forearm.
He could really skate.
We hated him. Not as much as Lou Fontinato, John Ferguson or Bugsy Watson though.
He was decent player and more of a cheap shot guy , like Watson...

I dunno, I thought I'd posted this earlier in the blog that Chayka was out and that Sullivan was in but with others doing the Cap work.
Maybe I didn't.
You have to wonder if the ownership feels like they now don't have the Cap comfort to keep Taylor Hall, and that punishment from the league for interview prospects earlier against the rules is going to be a loss of a first rounder.
In my post that isn't there, I also said there are few kids there I would like to see end up here if they are house cleaning...WAIT...I found the post -

If Chicago trades saad , I don't see them retaining any salary. Saad has some decent value a young prospect and a pick I see. |

Sounds like Chayka quit in the middle of his contract - statement from the Coyotes:
“ John Chayka has quit as the General Manager and President of Hockey Operations of the Arizona Coyotes.
"The Club is disappointed in his actions and his timing as the Coyotes prepare to enter the NHL's hub city of Edmonton, where the team will begin post-season play for the first time since 2012. Chayka has chosen to quit on a strong and competitive team, a dedicated staff, and the Arizona Coyotes fans, the greatest fans in the NHL.” |
