So it looks like Chayka could be out in Arizona. He’d make a solid replacement for Bowman.

Looks like he and the new CEO aren't on the same page.

Sounds like it got messy quick.

I agree that the team should be competitive enough to make the playoffs if the younger players are developed properly, even with Seabrook on the roster, but the margin between being competitive and being a contender is razor thin. In a normal year, having a healthy Seabrook (I.e. not on IR) but not contributing any value to the roster vs having an additional 7 mil in cap space would be a huge difference. Nothing about the next 2+ seasons will be normal tho so it’s probably a moot point.

Overall, I agree. However, no one knows for sure what Seabrook will be going forward. I’ll admit it is a BIG if, but I’m bullish on his return at this point. He is a very motivated (and prideful) guy.

As you said before, every team has a Seabrook. I think it's pretty cut and dry. Management has shown he can either play or he's IR'd.

Just reading some of the things Seabs said couldn't throw a ball for the last 3 years, couldn't sleep, as an organization sometimes you have to do what's best for the player and that's let him heal, kind of like the gov for people, i know i know many disagree however I truly don't believe the org has suddenly become a poop show because of the overrated McD firing

With 31 spots for the team going to the hub, I believe that means 4 need to be cut.

Seabrook is out. Cut Quenneville and Regula as they've been non-existent, perhaps nursing injuries. That leaves leaves one more cut.

Might be Tomkins but the team could elect to take all 5 goalies.

If so, Krys or Johnson is the last cut, IMO.

Krys has been playing wing and seems out of place as he's still thinking like a D-man out there as far as positioning in his own zone.

I would give the edge to Johnson. He's playing well in camp. Strong in faceoffs and good puck support.

Neither will play in the RTP so doesn't matter much in the end besides rewarding performance in camp.

I'm sure y'all know already through the news and social media feeds but Crawford tested positive for COVID and was why he was out until now.

Being cocooned in Edmonton for one or more weeks without getting to play in a game is a REWARD?

You gotta get out more....

Glad that he recovered - and if he’s going to Edmonton, his family is presumably ok.

Yeah, I like what I have seen of Reece Johnson too.

I realized the rosters are expand4d and then limited to 31 for safety reasons, but I wonder, if after the first teams are eliminated if they might allow a few more back on the roster.
I am not sure the average amount of defenders each team is bringing, but when you add a round, I wonder if you start having to use this bottom guys for a first time in larger amounts with the chance of disease slashing the regulars.

They have been great at the way their was an amount of fluidity to what happens next and the fact that there are ZERO cases going into the bubbles is pretty impressive.

Not trying to gloom and doom, but if you get down to the final four and a team has a bunch of dinged up rearguards who really shouldn't play, and you go through you Black Aces, I just wonder if they let that team reload inside their farm. It isn't like that farm guy is gonna take the game over.

The Seabrook situation will play itself out. Something will give, he doesn't want to be excluded or scratched. His contract isn't great, but the Hawks could trade him, will just take the right deal and partner and sweetener. The surgeries may have just extended his career and we could still see him play out until he retires. I'm not saying he will be the Seabrook of old, but I think he can bounce back a bit from the injuries.

We should all be happy he isn't heading to Edmonton if he isn't ready. No point in him having a setback or struggling to keep up if he isn't in game shape. The one thing we know, Seabrook isn't lazy and will be pushing himself to get back on the ice as a contributor, so if his body is able, he will do it. His performance will be a question mark, but that's what keeps things interesting.

You spell it out well. When Seabrook is ready, he might be a tad better due to no injury hindrance. He also could morph into a Larry Murphy master at playing the angles. We just have to wait and see. I don't know if he would play a ten game conditioning stint if there is an AHL season.

But Seabrook here is a help to the kids learning how to play defense at the NHL level. Seabrook professional commitment rubs off, too; he has value on and off ice.

The culmination of this season and next season is the building blocks time for young dmen to emerge. Their success means they drive the offense more than our dmen ever have done. It is a big plus to have one or both dmen in each pair who can skate and advance the puck. Wiz points out how as many as each of the future set of dmen on teams could be this new age dmen

It is just so important to have a solid 2020 #1. I think that Bowman wants to add a forward but you have to wonder if he would grab Askarov if avaliable

I can't wait until Wednesday and NEXT Saturday...well, I guess, I can...

32 camera angles, more microphones at ice level to actually pick up the player's voices and sound...this might be a lot of fun.

So happy they are not putting 100 cardboard Pierre McGuire's are various ages of life and hair length up like the goofy other slow sport did...

Good to see Crow back - let's hope he stays healthy and negative (this thing seems to have a way of resurfacing in people).

Oilers injury (seemingly minor)

@DNBsports

Official word from the Oilers re: Darnell Nurse's absence for today's scrimmage is he's "unfit to play." Nurse got tangled up with Kailer Yamamato midway through Thursday's practice and seemed to be favouring his leg. He only missed one drill before returning.

Blackhawks G Crawford rejoins team, discloses he had COVID-19

Chicago Blackhawks goaltender Corey Crawford revealed that he tested positive for the coronavirus, causing him to miss most of the Return to Play training camp with his team.
“I just want to start off here by saying I tested positive for COVID, so I’ve had to quarantine in my place here in Chicago for the last few weeks,” Crawford said in his availability with reporters via video conference. “I’m excited to be back and I’m going to try to get into it as quick as possible and get that game shape back.“

Crawford said he started feeling symptoms in the first few days of his quarantine. He also couldn’t push hard in the gym before he got his lungs and heart checked well after he had symptoms.
“I think we were safe enough about it that we didn’t put anyone else at risk,” Crawford said.
The 35-year-old goaltender was 16-20-3 in 40 games this seasonwith a 2.77 goals-against average and .917 save percentage

Wiz points out to me, that we do not know how well each individual case turns out for rapid recovery to normal breathing from the covid19

Goaltenders have the full face shield so maybe those who have played the position do understand more just what breathing is like compared to other position players.

The odds certainly appear stacked against BOTH Crawford and Seabrook fully recovered and in proper playing shape at least in the opening round. However it is likely a fair assumption both are probably capable to overcome their issues by the end of next season's training camp

Breathing in normal everyday life is probably just fine for Crawford now but playing intense hockey is an altogether different breathing experience.

Re-adjusting to use muscles and technique even in simple plays for Seabrook really should be experienced in a few games - similar to an extended spring training for baseball players. Seabrook made adjustments in his ways to defend for a few years, so to go back down an old familiar road may seem like an adjustment back to old ways is easy peasy. Well perhaps he got used to thinking and reacting differently as he became a walking wounded player.

It will all play out. That much we know.

Peter Green, dead at 73.

He replaced Clapton in Bluesbreakers, then left that group with Mick Fleetwoof, John McVie to form Fleetwood Mac.

An outstanding guitarist and songwriter (Albatross, Black Magic Woman, etc.).

On the Fox broadcast of the Cubs-Brewers game yesterday, the network “virtually” filled the stands with computer generated fans. (Or should that be “literally” filled the stands with “virtual” fans?)

One fan interfered with a fly ball down the left field line that the Cubs’ left fielder could have caught....
