unlikely that Ron Francis would draft him.
- BINGO!

Vegas signs local boy to play defense and he without a doubt less of a player.

Seattle will need a leader.

You know the Hawks will be playing half that deal no matter where he goes, if he goes....

what would happen is they would agree to trade for seabook. Lets say him at 50% retained and 2nd rounder and an agreement that they get to select Carlson orCAgguila or dehaan. IE they would say you have to not protect this person if we agree to take Seabs. he is from Vancouver correct?

they could also do the seabs trade after July 1st so in real dollars they would have a AAV of 3.34 but in real dollars it would be 6.75 over 3 years. 1/2 of 13.5.

Seabrook would still have to waive his NMC.

The Seabrook situation will play itself out. Something will give, he doesn't want to be excluded or scratched. His contract isn't great, but the Hawks could trade him, will just take the right deal and partner and sweetener. The surgeries may have just extended his career and we could still see him play out until he retires. I'm not saying he will be the Seabrook of old, but I think he can bounce back a bit from the injuries.

We should all be happy he isn't heading to Edmonton if he isn't ready. No point in him having a setback or struggling to keep up if he isn't in game shape. The one thing we know, Seabrook isn't lazy and will be pushing himself to get back on the ice as a contributor, so if his body is able, he will do it. His performance will be a question mark, but that's what keeps things interesting.

And that's still an awful lot of money to have tied up in an aging defenseman who may never be able to play at a high level again despite what he says.

The dude is 35 years old and has 4 more years on his contract.

Indeed. Most realized this was a bad contract the moment it was signed (either because of length or the actual money). A lot of other teams have similar bad contracts. Some have multiple (see SJ). Seabrook isn't going to make or break this team. The ability and quality of the young guys being integrated will.

Crawford is rumored to have made the roster of players headed to Edmonton. The Hawks will announce the full 31-man roster once the league formally releases them.

Also, for the exhibition games, teams are being permitted to dress 13 forwards and 7 defensemen.

So it looks like Chayka could be out in Arizona. He’d make a solid replacement for Bowman.

Ha ha, yeah just think if Bowman signed Schmautz to 7 years at $40 mil. Arizona has a big problem. If they sign Hall, whoever the GM is is going to have to offload significant salary.

I agree that the team should be competitive enough to make the playoffs if the younger players are developed properly, even with Seabrook on the roster, but the margin between being competitive and being a contender is razor thin. In a normal year, having a healthy Seabrook (I.e. not on IR) but not contributing any value to the roster vs having an additional 7 mil in cap space would be a huge difference. Nothing about the next 2+ seasons will be normal tho so it’s probably a moot point.

Murphy's absence for a few days earlier in camp was due to a tweaked groin. He hopes to be well enough to be able to play when games resume.

So he can stay there and be their goalie when the 2020-2021 season starts?

There is talk ex-hawk Steve Sullivan might be elevated to Arizona Coyote's GM with someone else handling the Cap juggling.
I wonder if this helps the Blackhawk relationship, because there are still a few more unperforming Coyote prospects I would like to see them poach.

I am in Seabrook's corner.

He can still play.

Players always want to continue to play.

I think he will play.

If it comes a few more press box visits, I bet he takes that.

It is a little early to christen Krys, Beaudin, and even Mitchell as adequate replacements and to me this is the classic story of the veteran seeing the competition is emerging to take his spot and the player more than willing to fight for his place with the only team he has played for.
You cannot ask for more from your contracted player...
