Goaltending situation will likely be resolved by then and the defensemen are obvious, so they'll lose a forward.
Crosby, Malkin, Guentzel and Zucker are locks. Rust and McCann probable (Rust isn't a lock IMO because he'd be a year from free agency and a pricy extension at age 30). After one more forward it will be the likes of Hornqvist, Blueger, Tanev, ZAR, JJ, DeSmith. - Tojo.
My bet would be Horny, but could be JJ. |

Im glad they didnt try to take a page out of the Sonics color scheme or similar logo or anything like that. This team deserved its own identity in Seattle. I hope Seattle gets a basketball team again. NBA's fee for an expansion team is laughable so unless that changes or if a team moves, I dont see it happening soon.
The logo looks more like the Mariners than anything. Overall, I like the name, logo, and jerseys/colors. NHL has now gotten two expansion teams right in a row. Never saw that coming.
I imagine the league is going to make a lot of changes to the Expansion Draft. Vegas got away with murder in a number of cases, including us, where we paid them a #2nd round pick to take a quality NHL goalie.

If the Pens make it worth their while, and I think they should, then I agree.
I'm not sure they wouldn't protect Hornqvist right now. We as fans may disagree, but they seem to love his influence on the team as a different type of leader from Sid and Malkin.
If I'm Seattle, I'm hoping for a young center like Blueger. But Pittsburgh really isn't likely to give them much so hopefully we can unload a contract. |

When you say defensemen are obvious, I assume you mean the top 4 will be protected. Unless they have changed the expansion draft rules, you can either protect 4D + 4F or 3D + 7F. So in that scenario, Rust and McCann would both have to be exposed. So, if I am correct (which is dubious at best), it means we would have to choose between protecting Petts vs. Rust and McCann. |

Marino is not eligible for the draft, so they'll protect Letang, Dumoulin, and Pettersson. |

Oh thank god. I forgot about that. Whew! My terrible memory causes me a lot of problems.
If I am them and it is between Hornqvist, Blueger, Tanev, ZAR, JJ, DeSmith, I am taking either Blue or ZAR. Easy choice. I don't know why a new organization would want to hamstring themselves with bad contracts. |

They need to hit the cap floor, and there's usually not a lot of high priced good players being left out to grab so they take some bad contracts. |

Then they'd extort picks out of teams that'll pay them to be rid of the bad contracts, not take them in the draft. |

They could also sign FA or take guys on expiring deals. We'd be lucky for them to take the last few years of Hornqvist or JJ without giving a pick, which again I would do. |

They can't do it to all the teams though, but if you don't wanna take the gamble on if they will take the high priced guy you can throw them picks. They literally can't take all low prices players. I personally hate how easy it made it on the expansion teams. Vegas shouldn't have been able to make a cup running team in it's first year... |

Nor did I say they could. The reply was to the suggestion that they'd have a hard time hitting the cap floor. They'll extort the maximum value they can from 4-6 teams that are desperate enough to be rid of big cap hits and then fill the rest of the cap with the remaining contracts they either pick up in the draft or UFAs. It's amazing how quickly one can meet the cap requirement. |

Madden had Yohe on his show today. Talked a lot about camp and focused on a few players.
Said Guentzal looks tremendous. No sign of any issues with the shoulder.
Said Lafferty has been the camp standout....I've read this from other people too. If anybody falters, he expects Laffs to get the first chance. Also said Rodrigues has been impressive too.
Of the regulars... Letang and Murray haven't been great. Said... If Schultz doesn't play well, don't be surprised if Ruh get's a jersey over him.
Oh yeah... Forgot he said McCann has been really good too. |

Durant REALLY wants to become an owner when he retires and he REALLY wants to bring a team to Seattle specifically. Given the NBA's track record of backing their stars when they want to do something, I think it's a matter of when not if the Sonics come back. Looking forward to it too. I grew up watching Ray Allen as a Supersonic so I always had a soft spot for that franchise. I'd say move the Grizzlies if expansion is out of the question, but then we'd loose the Grizzlies. Would rather them be moved back to Vancouver and remain the Grizzlies. |

I hope so to. I don't see why Miletic would make it over him since he also hasn't played an NHL game yet. I think Poulin is on the bubble with POJ, Johnson, and Varone where 3 of the 4 make it. |
