Looks like we are without a blogger again.

Yeah, Stewart was great. No idea why he bailed for Ottawa. What was he thinking? Didn't mind Hitchcock and all the big words as I graduated HS and can read.

Just watched Flyers/Habs game 6, that was a great game. 2 teams playing like we normally do. Having to play down to the BJ’s to win was effing boring, would have been so much worse if we had lost. Although am glad we learned how to win those games (finally), a skill that should get us far in the playoffs. Looking forward to TBL playing our usual game against the Bruins. Yes, I hate the Bruins as we all do.

If you had to pick a player to go toe to toe with Marchand who would you pick?

My pick is Yanni Gorde

Stammerman, your insight on the lightning is great and I look forward to reading your posts, and I think you should be our new blogger. What say you???

Thanks for the generous words but I have no time to be a blogger, I come here and other Lightning boards for a quick 20-30 minute respite from the daily grind.

When Michael ran this blog it had the most engagement by far, he needs to come back as the Bolts blogger.

I agree I could read what Hitchcock was writing but he used big words when they were not needed, I think I even said that one time in a response. The other problem with Hitchcock for me was that he only broke down a few plays or a player. He did not know and had no pulse of the team as a whole.

The NHL needs to do something to limit the turtle shell that teams like the Jackets and Islanders are employing. The Lightning knew to beat Columbus they had to play like them as they can't score unless they counter where as the Bolts can score 5on5.

I expect a much better series against the Bruins, they both play solid defense but are gifted offensively and neither will try to turtle in front of their own net. This series could go either way as I feel both teams are even for the most part.

I think Point will continue to have a big playoffs, the Cirelli line will produce more points, and the Lightning will be able to get to Halak more so then Bruins getting to Vasy.

As for Marchand I would like to see Pat Maroon go at him or Barclay Goodrow. We can maintain with them off the ice for 5 minutes more so the Gourde who has been playing great as the 3C.

Looking forward to round 2.

Yeah staying out of the box has always been an issue for this team. Luckily we have Vasi who can bail us out most of the time.

I’m also surprised that we haven’t gotten many powerplays. Even if we did though, it hasn’t seemed nearly as lethal without Stammer on the left circle. Also I’m not necessarily opposed to it, but when did Cooper start running Sergachev on the first line PP?

Cooper put Sergachev on the top PP when Hedman went out in the regular season and has kept him there because Stamkos is out in my opinion. I think the thought process is without Stamkos shot on the left circle the opposing PKs have been pressing Kucherov and Point more as they don't have to worry about getting back to block a Stamkos one timer. So Sergachev has a little more shake and bake in his game then Hedman which gives the PP a little more space as he controls the puck with Kucherov. The other thing he does better then Hedman is his wrister, he gets it off quick and normally accurately thru traffic which allows movement of the PP to break down the PK.

Hedman has been real dangerous on the PP2, they should have had a goal in game 4. Our PP2 is all about net pressure so Hedman and Shattenkirk are launching bombs from the blue line hoping for rebounds, tips, and blowing it by the keeper. Sergachev's slapper is not as good as Hedmans and Shattenkirks.

With all that said it would not shock me to see Hedman running the top PP along with Sergachev maybe taking turns. Without Stamkos on the left circle the Lightning have to show different looks to create space in breaking down the PK. I think it will be the biggest challenge they have against the Bruins, getting the PP going as it could decide the series.

Seems that way since its been a month and half since the last blog. Don't know what happened to him. Such little engagement on this blog anymore wouldn't shock me if we don't get a new blogger as well.

wooooo! ECF here we come!!
hoping kucherov comes back quickly, and stammer, too.

kind of worried that stammer is out for good now though. would've been interesting to see if he would've returned for game 6 had we lost that OT game without kucherov, doubt it, but we will see moving forward
