How is Tippett not a nominee when he finally turned around a perennially bad team AND did it with some key injuries?!? - Dahlmanyotes
East coast bias. All 3 nominees are in the Eastern Conference. I agree that Tippett should've been nominated. What about Jared Bednar in Colorado? All of their Stars missed significant time to injury during the season but they barely missed a beat.
Panarin is so far off from being the best ever (He's not even the best one in the league right now, IMO):
(In no particular order): Gretzky (Technically), Belfour, St. Louis, Salming, Joseph, Giordano, Oates, Mullen, Ciccarelli, Backstrom, and on, and on and on

I think that the Greatest Undrafted player of all time would be Ed Belfour.
He won the Calder, Vezina, and the Masterson in his first season. He went on to have a 19 year NHL Career and played in 963 games. He had a 2.50 all time goals against and a .906 save percentage in the Regular season, and also showed up when it mattered in the playoffs. He won a cup in Dallas, and had over a .920 save percentage in the playoffs with a GAA of 2.17. In his Dallas years, he gave up less than 2 goals a game in the playoffs, and led Dallas to back to back cup final appearances.
While others have just as good of a Resume, and Panarin might end up being the Best, I think Belfour edges everyone out currently, and I'm a Blues fan
What about a guy named Martin St. Louis? 11 20-goal seasons (easily could be 13-15 if health & lockouts didn't come into play). 1000 points, a Stanley cup, Olympics
Heck, Chris Kunitz won 4 Stanley cups in the past 13 years; let Parnain win 1 before we declare him the "best undrafted NHL player"
