Sounds like a replacement for The Drake.
- DarthKane

I was thinking the same thing. Suter will be cheaper and has a cleaner bill of health. Just as versatile and potentially as effective if not more.

Suter is also a Swiss national like Kurashev. Assuming both hit potential, imagine a future line with those two on it.

Hot dang. I was hoping like crazy the Hawks would be the team to land Suter!

For comparables, think Kahun but with a higher compete level in all zones. A lot more jam to his game.

Suter isn't projected to be a top 6 forward but could be a pretty good middle 6 one. He's played all over the lineup in the Swiss league from what I've heard but is effective no matter what.

This is exciting! He was Swiss league MVP last year...hoping another major Euro player steal by Stan.

The article makes the comparison of the two players because they were drafted high and didn't achieve immediate success with the clubs that drafted them, but Turris had his breakout year with the Suns and then a couple of productive seasons with the Preds.

The writer, Les-something, suggests that Nylander could be poised for similar type of success, this next season.

Big difference is that Nylander makes $860,000, and Turris is signed long term playing as a third/fourth line center long term at $6 mil. per.

Speaking of bad contracts, they also have Ryan Johanson (who they traded Seth jones for) signed long term for $8 million, who has averaged 15 goals the past 4 seasons. And Poile is considered a genius as a GM?

The Hawks have announced the signing of Mitchell, Kalynuk and Suter.

Great news snagging up Pius Suter.

Hawks land themselves a cheap top-9 option for next year when they wouldn't have money to do so in the UFA market.

Excellent work by whomever is on the "recruitment team" in Chicago. Sounds like Marc Crawford helped.

Oh, I'm with you in hoping to enjoy the Preds Cap issues while having no real hardware to show for it, but the article wasn't really looking at salary comps...IIRC.

There's Poile and a long list of GM's revered here that have almost nothing to show for their efforts, but as long as they aren't Blowman, they're the bee's knees according to some.

Just found it. It wasn't there a while ago which proves Darth has real sources.

Originally, I thought Darth was Darthing us and wasn't going to fall for his nonsense.

Great news on Suter though as he gives the Hawks another low cost option for next year somewhere in the top 9.

Apparently we have many players on the cusp of NHL employment. From Rockford to the Swiss league. A Russian not rushing real fast to join up.

What we could appreciate is some grit which was missing team wide. Especially with Shaw mending.

Officially adding Re Johnson to the ensemble

No surprise as I believe this was also the case pre- and during the last lockout:

Friedman: "I've been told by many many many people that one of the most vocal players during the process of coming back to play was Jonathan Toews - that he asked a lot of questions"

That's our leader

Except for the Strome/Nylander/Kane line, I think the other 3 lines can more than hold their own below the dots

He seems to be more of a goal scorer than Kahun, maybe closer to Kubalik, albeit in a Kahun size body (5'11" vs 6'1"). Either way - nice freebie pickup.

I resemble that remark.

The Hawks track record of success with European free agents is apparent and has helped their recruiting efforts. I’m keeping an open mind but I’m expecting Suter to be between Kahun and Kubalik as far as skills and results.

But the real question is which Pope Pius will be used for the memes?
