I'm amazed this got so much press, dog days of summer. Doesn't bother me one bit. I'm still happy about Rathbone, that's news! - VanHockeyGuy
i think the cap crunch issue has only begun media wise. it's going to be a topic that's woven into a lot of different stories once this season is done and player movement is allowed. |

Can they even sign contracts for next year right now? I haven't seen anyone sign players for next year that aren't for this year as well.
The Canucks can't sign him for this year, they're waiting to see how they're going to play things out after the playoffs, he doesn't want to wait that long especially as the KHL starts up soon. - NewYorkNuck
I’m pretty sure teams are allowed to sign existing RFA’s and pending UFA’s and drafted players to next year. The “window” was for burning the first year of ELC’s, which I think the Boner contract just did. There is no hurry to sign guys now however, because they will have another wonder after they complete the thingy. |

All good. Everything runs it's course really...unless you are the same 5-10 posters pitching that same narrative(s) for close to two years now...which apparently isn't 'getting old' lol - LordHumungous
Narrative or a different point of view. Each to his own. |

Its definitely not something I care tremendously about, but there are certainly some that believe in Tryamkin's potential and have been eagerly awaiting his return.
If I recall correctly, the team made it publicly clear they intended to bring him back (prior to COVID) and not being able to make that happen due to whatever reason, is a bit newsworthy to me. It being cap-related makes it even more so, assuming thats true. The flattened cap is going to be an interesting wrinkle that most weren't counting on |

I love that Brian Burke came right out and called a select group of social media posters commenting on the Canucks "idiots"
These battles with Sportsnet's Andrew Walker, Taj etc, are a joke.
I'm not a pom pom waver, but I hope the team does well, at the end of the day it's just a game, which may or may not occur in light of today's way of life.

If we get dumped by Minny and end up having a shot at Lafreniere the cap crunch thing will go away pretty quickly lol |

I think Rathbone would displace him sooner than later. - VanHockeyGuy
Sooner..... I choose sooner, Rathbone will be in next year's lineup he's got what we need he also has a mean streak that we will get to see checkout some of his highlights on open ice hits. That may not translate 100% to the NHL but he's not afraid to pressure puck carriers in the neutral zone which will lead to better possession numbers due to forced dump ins(this is something Quinn does well too). |

I never thought Tree would sign. Too many uncertainties for him to bother. If he had the determination of fellow countrymen Goldobin, he'd be a welcome addition. The kid never made it permanently but he never complained once and never expected a gifted spot on a NHL roster. He did his time in the AHL, healthy scratched in the NHL while keeping his his mouth shut not making excuses. If Tree were this kind of player, he would probably be a NHL defense man long ago. Instead he plays in Russia not wanting to come over unless he's guaranteed not to be sent to the AHL to hone his game.
Now his agent expresses cap problems. I think that is more of a Covid issue. The question if the Canucks want to sign him for next season would be answered before the KHL start in a normal year. Now Covid has offset all of this and Tree's agent doesnt want to risk waiting for answers that wont be addressed until the late fall.

Have been saying it for years here, we need a junkyard dog. A mean streak is a good thing.

Well said.
Ironic that Tryamkin has 'try' in his name. |

While I think he has valid concerns about when the 20-21 season starts, can't a KHL deal contain an out clause? I think Diamond is trying to save a bit of face, but if they really felt strongly about him being an NHLer then I'm sure they could've figured something out |

I don't disagree. I more of meant that Diamond could have priced his client better to make it work now under a "prove it" scenario, but instead they are going to claim cap issues and try again next next year when more money is off the books. I think Jim did a good job being responsible about the uncertainty of the situation |
