Well considering the last time we met we shut you out 5-0 and we own a lifetime record of 124-96-15-7 record against the Flyers, you might now want to get so overconfident.

Ha ha.....Love that!

I am just tired of the Devils being pushed around in our own zone. Severson and PK were the only ones occasionally throwing a mid ice check. Even Mueller, considering how big he is was getting pushed around.

I would even settle for a Foster, (remember him),
Big defenseman who didn’t take any crap & stuck up for his teammates. It is probably too early for that Baal kid......

I meant MARK FRASER....

... as a fan of NJ Devils, I love Flyers fans who both cannot spell and cannot remember the last time they actual won anything of importance. Keep saying thanks, in the past 30 years you have played in only 2 Stanley Cup Finals and you lost both. So thank you and your irrelevant hockey club!

So few defensemen left that play physical and aren't pylons or goons that hurt their teams. Take a look at a guy like Radko Gudas. Sure he can hit a ton and blocks a lot of shots, but he takes way too many stupid penalties and every advanced stat says his teammates are worse when he's on the ice with them. The Shea Webers of the world who can actually add to the team and play a physical game are becoming more and more rare. Would love to get a guy like that, just don't know where we find them.

When Calvin de Haan was a free agent I really wanted to see NJ sign him. Now it looks like that was a bullet dodged.

The impact he makes on a team’s offense is generally not very good and we’ve suffered through watching an offensively inept team for far too long.

Lavy’s team finishes in GF in his 13 full seasons as head coach:

2001-02: 6th
2002-03: 11th
2005-06: 3rd
2006-07: 17th
2007-08: 5th
2010-11: 3rd
2011-12: 3rd
2012-13: 9th
2014-15: 13th
2015-16: 12th
2016-17: 11th
2017-18: 7th
2018-19: 19th

Finished in the top half in 11 of 13 seasons
Finished top ten in 7 of 13 seasons
Finished top five in 4 of 13 seasons

Generally not very good offensively?

It's hard to explain to the 'intangibles' crowd that grit isn't a determining factor to quality.

Can’t be an asshat every day.

Or can I?!

BTW the Flyers vs the KC Scouts and Colorado Rockies were 30-4-3-0. That’s ugly right there.

As a Flyers die hard, I hate when Flyers fans act silly. No such thing as a gimme win in the NHL.

I agree with all you said, 100%.
I just think we need a Weber, Chara, somebody to anchor the D with some grit. Miss the days of Stevens & Colin White.

If the Devils were to drop that alleged money on a coach, I'd hope that coach would have won cups before, like a Joel Quenneville. Lav never won so moving on is a good thing.
- Leniwm1

Just wanted to point out that Laviolette did win with the Hurricanes.

Why would fans care what the coach makes?

Get what you want, not who is at a discount. Coaches salaries don’t break the bank, nor do they count against the cap.

Flyers and Devils have met in the playoffs 5 times. The Devils have won 3, and the Flyers have won 2. Edge Devils obviously, but not total domination.

Generally fans don't care. It's just if you are going to pay for top tier coaching you want to have faith in that coach. Lavy doesn't seem like a guy you go all in on.

Also, if ownership is focused on money more then winning then the coaching salary is an expense regardless of the cap situation. Ideally it wouldn't be an issue but in Devilville everything can be.

This was in the Athletic article today about the Rags recent history, I found it hysterical:
They only won one Cup, but it’s the single most important one ever according to the NHL’s marketing department.

eh, probably is. I wonder how many Rags fans would be Devils fans had they lost to NJ in 94, and never won a Cup since.. while NJ beat them in 94, maybe wins the Cup in 94..95..2000..2003.. the 06 domination of the Rags, the 2012 Conf Finals win.. wow this is refreshing to type.
but seriously, from just the mid 90s era, a wonder if any Rags fans would turn if they never won.
In full transparency, when I was.. I think 6 in 94, I only had basic channels, didn't really follow sports. Roller hockey was picking up in central Jersey, with half the kids Rags fans, some Philly, good chunk NJ. But.. my buddy rooted for the Rags after 94.. cuz they won. So I was like.. ok sure, Rangers rule-Devils drool. After 95 it was a different story.. and we got into arguments with the neighbor about how the DEVILS RULE and the RANGERS drool lol.
so yea, for some kids, Devils winning over the Rags in 94 .. the Rags never winning.. maybe some dump the Rags cuz of perpetual suck and pickup Devils cuz of perpetual awesome.
