I guess it's an interesting question, but there's just too many variables. Deadline trades are usually selling a guy for futures. If you want a hockey trade, it happens in the off season.

If they are so non-committal that they sign him to a 2 year, and then move him at a deadline, we're doomed. The fact that there's still questions about him after a bridge deal sucks, but they have to make a call. Same on Risto.

- Lunaion

There is only one call to make on Ristolainen, but will they finally make that call? Who knows.

What questions? He is who he is. A very good winger, not a superstar.

If we move him we’re immediately looking to replace him

- sbroads24[

Of course, the questions are
What value do they get back, and is it a a position of significant need?
What can you replace him with and does that player provide better value.

Value = (production / cap) +or- impact on others +or- team fit (style)
Some variation of above, IMO of course.

In likely lower revenue year or two, does Kerry and Tim want to payout $7.0 + $5.4 + $4.25(?) for the impact Sam, Risto and Montour are bringing to this team, in this system? Can they extract value back for them in a market that is projected to be tight?

After this season, Adam's might be the equivalent of a 5 year tenured GM with all he is facing this offseason.

I know Boss doesn't like Sam the player cause he doesn't hit stuff but I feel like it's just a little too personal at this point.

We were (frank)ed cause we traded away the 21st, 25th, 31st, and 62nd picks in a loaded draft, plus 3/4 of are prospect pool for a quick fix.
Edit: Sorry forgot pick 43 to that was sent to LA in the McNabb trade, forgot we got that pick from Calgary in the Regehr trade.

And some other scrub with those picks

We get it. You loved Botterill. Those picks we traded away all are scrubs and 4th line players. Don’t move the needle at all. Did not “screw” us

Team would be a lot better with Oreilly, Kane and Lehner on the team over those scrubs.

So when I was buying gold and silver junior miners since gold has been $1650 an ounce and Silver was at $15-16 my portfolio would have lost money ?

And man people are sick of tired of hearing me whine about Jack and Sam so you either just skip over my posts or have a bad memory.

Aren’t you the Idiot who was telling people to short sell stocks when the Dow has risen a record 9,000 points in 3 months? Ya you should stay in your insignificant country and go post on their forums.

I shorted the market during the fall....

I shorted through the first week and a half in April and gave some back before cycling into gold and silver.

I appreciate your concern though.

What are you talking about, just cause those teams picked those players, doesnt mean we would have. And know I didn't love Botts, but I am not blind to the poop show he was handed by TM like some people on here

Good post taco

Its really a combination. Soft player and off ice d!ck.

People do grow up, have bad days ect.
I get that too. But it is what it is still.

I was/am a big flutie fan (oxymoron).
Guy is a huge overachiever
Nothing given to him in his career.

My wife kept telling me , flutie wouldnt give you the time of day, he's a jerk ect. "He's mean to rob Johnson "

We go to San Diego, first year of fluite with the chargers vs. Bill's.
(Flutie wins it on the last play)

Head out to junior seau's bar for Monday night football the next day. Flutie suprisingly is the guest on the tv show "live with coach mike Reilly. "

Wait in line to get a few pictures. I'm wearing my Bill's gear. The flute couldn't have been nicer. Took some great pics, kidded around about us being from Buffalo and shouldn't we not like him.

Moral of the story - flute = cool
Liked him more.

Human nature. I Like athletes who are personable

You are right. We could of picked even worse players. I’ll take Oreilly, Kane and Lehner every time. Would be in the playoffs right now instead of hoping Henrique comes to our team to solve a 2nd line center void for 2+ seasons

Or we could have picked Boeser, Konecny, Samsanov, Aho, Carlo, Hintz, Cernak,Cirelli, couple others in there to with the 7 picks we had in the top 62.
Instead we got a goalie with a substance abuse problem
A Winger who couldn't keep his hands to himself
And one who shouldn't have been traded but lost his love for the game and are owners got butt-hurt from his comments and forced Botts to trade him. We would have been better off using the picks and loading up are farm system.

Bum36, GM's be lining up for the position once GMTM got poop canned. They'll be happy to stay unemployed after the disaster Botts created. You Improvise. You Adapt. You Overcome. I thought you said you were in the military?

Yeah they were lining up, don't you have horses to be training. Well that's all Botts did was improvise during those first couple years because we had no prospects to to take roster spots because TM traded everything away, and Botts tried to adapt with middling acquisitions to fill spots that didn't work. You were a horrible GM TM, go back to training horse's, hopefully you are not as bad at that as you were at drafting hockey players.

Yeah ok, trade away a Conn Smythe Selke winner and the best thing you get back is bum ass SSTT. Way to adapt. That paper bag breathing putz didn't have to trade ROR before the bonus kicked in. That's BS. Loser had no clue and thought it would be better to impress the Pegulas with how much money the cap genius was saving them in lieu of the absolute disaster of a roster he assembled. Like I said, biggest blunder in history of organization was poop canning GMTM because he wouldn't fire Bylsma. Team would be in the Round Robin if that rash decision wasn't made.
