As I said at the time, I wonder why he was allowed to make that public. It is someone's private medical information. Even if somehow it is "OK", I still think he is a douche for reporting it. - Aetherial
Reporters report when players have mono
So does the league.
None of that takes away from the fact that simmons is a douche |

Well there won’t be bidding wars like the past.
I am curious about Petro.
I think the Leafs have a chance just based on the fact a bit part of FA will be about where a player wants to be not money.
Also if he wants long term, the Leafs are one of the few teams in the NHL right now who can sign him 6 years and give him max bonuses and salary for the first 1-3 years.
Pretty tempting for any player right now. - Santo_44
He'd have to agree to a major salary drop, so I just don't see it.
According to a Mirtle article, the Leafs are OK for next year, and then the cap really starts to hurt. |

Well the Andersen raise...which I don’t believe should happen.
Hyman and Rielly are the big ups in the next 3 years. |

Who introduced the Crime Bill that did all that? Your answer Bill Clinton and pushed in the Senate by none other than Joe Biden. (Remember Hillary calling blacks super predators and needing to bring black men to heel?
Not to worry though Donald Trump with the help of Kanye West got the first Crime Bill passed in 30 years. - tmlfan17
its not cut and dry like that, you have to ignore the previous decades of laws that helped pack jails. (drug act - Reagan etc..)
But the Prisons system in the US is about $$ and filling them makes people rich..

Andersen needs to go bye-bye. He is not getting some 5+ year deal at age 32 and a raise. |

I remember that. It's crazy and also entirely unneeded, too.
EDIT: Responded to the wrong thing.
I agree with you, though. |

The Clintons were/are poopheads ...no doubt.
Dems couldn't win an election unless they went "anti-drugs" and "mandatory sentencing" ...they were heavily influenced by Reagan and Bush cleaning up the votes largely on the issue of criminalizing drugs. "Say no to drugs"!
Everybody should have to watch the doc 13th. It's punch line is BLM but it doesn't hold anything back against any politico's from Nixon onwards (including Bill and Hillary). |

arrests/convictions are a the band-aid solution that occurs when all else has already failed.
there is an issue that certain communities in american cities are over policed; often predominately black communities.
life can't just keep on going on as is. if people of afraid of police, the system isn't working.
but there needs to be solution that is more than one sided. there are 2 sides to this issue of high incarnation rates among black people. comprehensive solutions need to be developed.
the band-aid solution of defunding the police may address incarceration rates; but will do nothing for crime rates. - Tumbleweed
The stats prior to the war on drugs weren't nearly as lopsided (arrest/convictions/incarceration). Start with decriminalizing drugs and the stats will tilt.
Police departments now advocating for the decriminalization of the possession of all drugs. |

At minimum.
Get rid of useless laws and you will get rid of a lot of "criminals".

It's a non-starter in the US, so why advocate for it?
Start with cannabis.
Lumping in decriminalization of fentanyl with cannabis ensures it will never go anywhere. |

Turn your time machine much further back Mr. Peabody. This has not stopped since the end of the civil war. Nixon and Reagan probably gave it the biggest modern boosters with the wars on crime and drugs.
Absolutely add Clinton and anybody who supported him to that list. There is plenty of poop to go round. Biden is included.
Right now though, Biden is getting pushed by both the progressives in his party and the reality of what is going on in the country. The joint policy group on criminal justice he set top with Bernie has moved his position considerably.
They call for eliminating private prisons, ending cash bail and eliminating mandatory minimum sentences.
They propose a federal standard for police departments’ use of force, a national database of police officers who commit misconduct and an end to sentences of life without parole for juvenile offenders.
I'd like to see more but I'll take this way ahead of anything from the guy who is more concerned with protecting Confederate statues than Americans from coronavirus. |

this is too big of change in policy to occur without voters having their say.
a special vote should take place if a change this big is to occur. - Tumbleweed

Ya maybe. I don't have my finger on the pulse but I think some states would support it and others wouldn't. Not sure if Feds could give any autonomy to local states. |

seems reasonable. would be curious to know if there has been an impact seen in the states that have decriminalized weed as a starting point.
This solution could be part of multi-point plan. but this still only looks at it from one side. |
