He went from a future 6x6.5-7 to a 3x5.5 best case scenario
- Santo_44

I'm not sure I would even take him at that price.

Didn't really impress at all this year.

Does make me wonder how much Muzzin would have got if he was also still unsigned.

Honest to goodness, I think he'll be lucky to get $4M per year.

There's going to be some weird salary discrepancies in the dressing rooms for the next few years.

It's going to be very interesting to see. I wonder if they'll add a compliance buyout.

Quite the anomaly, alas, it didn't last long.

Despite the quick shift back... There is a surprising amount of discontent with Jason Kenney and the UCP these days. The reasoning seems to be not doing enough to separate or get Alberta it's "fair deal" however, so I wouldn't see that resulting in another dramatic NDP shift.

de-funding the police was not an issue that anyone ran on.

that fact the city councils/mayors don't agree is not surprising.

the city council is trying every tactic to take power away from the mayor in this case. The charter of the city gives full authority to the mayor over police funding; except for requiring the city have a minimum officer to population ratio.

It's almost like people were smart enough to put in safeguards to prevent a bunch of loony tunes from getting rid of the police on a whim.

- Tumbleweed

So you’re right, funding set by population and Mayor sets policy for Police Department. Discipline set through binding arbitration which is regularly overturned. Chief chosen by Mayor and is reviewed every three years by Council.

Council has unanimously passed resolution calling for plebiscite an disbanding police department to be replaced a by new public safety body. Nobody ran on this but everything changed with George Floyd killing.

Apparently they have not, and if I'm reading TSN correctly, the new CBA has been ratified.

Although both the sides would happily agree to buyouts if they wanted to add an amendment in November when teams realize they are absolutely franked against the cap.

Barrie will be lucky to get the Jake Gardiner deal out of a team. Can see him getting 4 for a couple years maybe...

Agreed, if the cap doesn't go up. I think they will offer the teams and way out. Of some sort.

While it’s true that not every Trump voter is an outright racist they were certainly more than ready to let a racist run the country in return for better 401Ks or anti abortion judges or whatever. In my mind you should be judged by your actions not by some racist/non-racist purity test that doesn’t really mean anything.
- Canada Cup

It my book, they are all belly-crawling, knuckle-dragging, pedo-loving, racist inbred phucktards.

But, I was trying to be diplomatic and generous.

Yeah that was an anomaly. The 'Wexit' movement in Alberta seems pretty weak. Not sure how well that would go unless they figure out a way to eat tar.

If they were a compliance buyout, which Leaf would you guys buy out? There's not an albatross contract on the roster.

Are you allowed to immediately resign? (I'm gonna guess no)

But if so, one of the big three. Then you resign them for 1 million and wait for the league to penalize you for circumventing the cap.

I just looked at Capfriendly, and yeah, you are right. There's not really any bad contracts on there. A buyout candidate didn't jump out at me.

For Tampa, I think it would be McDonagh or Gourde.

Some of our dearest friends from university moved out to Alberta 25 years ago.

I still love them dearly, but I can't franking stand talking to them anymore.

It's just a non-stop bellyaching of complaining about Ottawa, deficits, how Alberta was so hard-done by, and it even borders on fringe conspiracy.

I have better things to do with my Friday nights than be dragged down into despair on a Zoom call.

Trade for an albatross contract and then buy it out.

For a price, of course.

Because it must be incredibly frustrating to have straight-white-male privilege and the best one could do with it is a dead-end job, a failed marriage, and a mind full of regret.

It's funny what happens when you grow up.

11 year old Mussel: "Why would Quebec want to leave, keep Canada together!"

36 year old Mussel: "Don't give a (frank) if Alberta or Quebec want to leave, let 'em so we can just stop talking about this nonsense and get back to brass tacks."

True the population would dictate what your saying is true.
If you dig a little deeper though and look at interactions with the Police it's actually quite close despite the huge difference in population so based on that it shows whites are actually more likely to get killed by the Police based on interactions.
I'm sure you'll want to say it's racist that blacks have more interactions with the Police.
Based on my job I would actually say you might be correct. Would that be the fault of the Police or mayors of the Cities.

- tmlfan17

i am curious about "Interactions", not all interactions are the same.

Like if I rob a bank and get killed...well..that doesnt seem so bad.. but if Im walking my dog, and Karen calls the police because I looked at her strange and I end up dead...well..that doesn't seem right.

More whites die of everything in the USA (and probably Canada/Europe) because there are more white people. Simple math. It is the per-capita stats that count.
