18 year old Auston Matthews starting the season on a line with two other rookies.... And scoring 4 goals?

Talk about flicking a rookie to the wolves and it resulting in completely illogical success...

- joel878

Leafs still lost.
So it doesnt count
Lol

Plus he was a 1st overall pic, the type of talent that doesnt come around yearly

IN hockey news ..

Who gets the starting 6 spots on the Leaf blueline August 2?

I guess Ceci, Sandin and Dermott are battling for 2 spots?

Or maybe 7 D and sit the Goat?

- The Law

I have a feeling Ceci has a guaranteed spot.

Sandin is probably odd man out, but I could see them carrying 7 D.

Do you get to open today or this week?
- Garnie

Friday, it'll be sparse. Have to rent a storage locker to store 11 tables and 44 chairs.
But I can't wait, back to some semblance of normalcy.

imo, its more just ignorance and misunderstanding...and a dash of not wanting to understand.

I had this conversation with couple relatives...(all in thier 60s) and they said me the same thing..."But dont all lives matter?", I think all lives matter.

any explaining I attempted really fell in deaf ears.

- senstroll

So you’re saying people in their 60s have hearing problems?

Old people matter (for a while)!

Ceci by the nature of being a RHD will probably be in.

I don't want to egg on the debate but the issue at the center of this is always how people feel about affirmative action.

"All" white people were terrified (angry) by this 50 years ago ...and 40 ..and 20 ...but now many more seem to understand the nature of it and why it's important.

Again I'm not getting into the debate but if you have strong feelings for or against the ideas and policies for affirmative action then you'll be strongly on one side of the BLM vs. ALM debate.

- The Law

It’s more that BLM is directed towards an issue. Responding with ALM is blatant stupidity.

So here's a question:

Why is nobody - not us, not the press, not Mike in Buffalo - talking about Bracco being left off the roster?

I know this was old news, as he wasn't told to stay in shape when the Marlies disbanded for the year, but is this not a news story?

I know that the NHL goes to great pains to protect the individual privacy of players with certain issues, and to be clear I have absolutely no inside knowledge, but the dude was reinstated to the Marlies after taking time off for personal reasons.

Does the media know what is going on, and purposely not reporting it?

Or is he simply off the depth chart?

I think you're right. Sandin will have to play himself into the lineup and he really doesn't have much of a chance to show his goods.

7 D may be a good idea given fitness and injury concerns early on.

Sit the Goat and rotate those elite wingers for shifts onto the 4th line with Spezza and Clifford.

Whatever those personal reasons are, I’m sure those well connected are respecting his privacy.

Lias Anderson came out with his issues publicly, the media did not leak anything.

It's been so long, I honestly don't remember who the "top 6" were before the Muzzin and Rielly injuries.

I'd like the Leafs organization to provide some clarity on whether - when they put (/permit) all team members in a 'Black Lives Matter' T-shirt for a nice photo-op and training session - they support the BLM Foundation Inc organization, or whether this is a statement to show that the organization/team is 'aware' of recent societal developments, and would like to show some support from black players in the NHL (and the rights of blacks around the world etc. etc.).

A t-shirt with 'TML against discrimination' would be much much more appropriate - although in the eyes of the marketing team definitely not as catchy as shouting 'BLM!'.

for those of you thinking this is not a serious issue - please read up on the history of communism, and how thought police is the first step of limiting the rights of individuals.
I find it creepy to see there is not 1 single player that feels comfortable to say 'I don't want to wear this shirt' (and I can bet you there are guys that actually think for themselves and do not think this is a good idea).

A sports organization should not be used for political goals - seems a very simple and logical observation/rule.

For now, I'm very disappointed in this organization because of this shallow messaging - I'd rather have Leafs put some effort in a programme to make sure hockey in the toronto area stays accesible for all youth players.

(look at English Premier League and players (including blacks) doing a 180 on BLM messaging).

- MaximusAurelius

Couldn't agree more with this post. Younger people will hate it but those that actually got real history lessons in school will see its merit.

It's in Brighton, it's called The Smokehouse Pub And Grill, grilled and smoked food are our specialties and we do them very well.
Not really any place to kayak unless you just want to go on the lake or Presquille Bay.
But you could stay at the park fairly cheap.

IIRC, he asked for a trade early in the Marlies season, then took a month or two off for personal reasons. As I said, I'm not going to speculate on that.

But then he was reinstated with the Marlies, but never got back into a game before the world collapsed.

We might do Bon Echo Park late in the summer.

If so, put out the reserved sign for the Wedgies.

Huh? Trudeau deserves the criticism and is absolutely getting it. The Star (our local socialist rag) is calling for an inquiry and judgment.

Using JT to defend Trump is not serving you at all.

Seems to be done with the organization. (Or the organization is done with him)

He probably has a decent grievance. He consistently put up decent points in the AHL, and the leafs never let him even sniff the NHL.

Probably should have brought him up early in the year to see what he can do. Worst case scenario, he gets his ass handed to him and realizes he has some work to do to make it to the NHL.

I'll just add that I hope they look at the Kielbergers and Me to We, which is the biggest money-making scam in Canada today.
