Looks like we did them a huge solid taking snakes off their hands before they could give him the long term mega deal.
A way to say thanks for taking Kulemin, Grabovski, Komarov, Martin off of ours I guess. 🤷♂️ - joel878

Question here for the tech nerds:
Why the frank would anyone care if China has our TikTok information?
What could they possibly use it for? Knowing what music my 11 year old daughter likes to dance to? |

The total of the Islanders' forwards' salaries (minus Barzal) is around $48 million.
The total of the Leafs' forwards' salaries (minus Marner) is around $42 million.
So it seems to me that the Islanders have surrounded Barzal with a better group of forwards than the Leafs have with Marner.
That logic checks out, no? - Atomic Wedgie
Around these parts it does.
But honestly, Montreal should take a stab at him for a first second third. Worst case scenario, they (frank) the NYI cash flow the way they (probably) did with the Canes.

yes, and 35 points more last year.
textbook definition of a guy that morphed into 'putting up less production than nylander'.. - MaximusAurelius
You may want to look at the number in the first column. |

It's not the tiktok video information. It's their ability to collect data about everything else, through tiktok. |

That would be an offer of $8,454,871 per year.
I doubt Barzal signs that. |

Nylander proved last year was an outlier
But whatever - Santo_44
he didn't really.
he's still a pp specialists that gets lots of point bc being on the wing with matthews/tavares.
are you really saying nylander is in the same category as barzal? |

The idea that this Nylander/Barzal production debate can even be a thing should make some people shake their heads about Willies contract.
Or are those same people thinking Barzal is extending for less than 6 years at 6.9? |

Aho did.
Barzal's numbers put him in that category.
Also, can't really compare yourself to the Marners of the world anymore, the world has changed way too much.

You're not making any sense. Did Nylander not have Tavares/Matthews wings to play on during his off year? |

Remember how Dubas caved, even though he held out until literally the last hour that Nylander could sign? |

Yeah it's too high but Bergevin does odd things so who knows. Only a dumb organization would do it.
Barzal would have been the 5th or 6th best forward on the Leafs last season. - RogerRoeper
3rd best F on the Leafs period... maybe even 2nd based on his age...

I think the main concern is that TikTok installs a proxy on your phone. In lame-man's terms (and keep in mind i'm no scientician so this may not be entirely accurate), all data that goes out your phone (ie. all the porn, bank account info, amazon purchases, contacts, etc.) potentially get routed through the proxy and makes the data visible to tiktok.

I'm not so sure it will have as big an effect on top guys as some believe.
I think it totally franks guys in the middle range.
But I think (let's revisit in November) top guys will still want and get top dollars. |

Nylander is an average 2nd line winger who's lucky he plays with great linemates.
Barzal is a top20 FW in this NHL. |

For the next five years, there will be two groups of teams:
Teams in cap hell
Teams in fiscal hell, so they won't be able to use their available cap room.
There won't be any teams that are well positioned, with maybe the exception of Detroit. - Atomic Wedgie

If I was an Islanders fan, I would worry that his first season was an outlier, and that he's not quite that level of player.
And his goals to assists ratio also scares me a little (yes, I said the exact same thing about Marner). |

Barzal has morphed into a guy who puts up less production than Nylander the past 2 years. Trust me on Toronto that would be huge news. - RogerRoeper
His career he is 0.88 ppg.
This past season he was .88ppg as wll.
Willie is 0.72ppg career
.086 this past season
So what would have been huge news? |
