I hope they play the kids in the tournament I would like to see Hagel get a shot . I also hope they give the starting job to Subban if Crow is a no show . May as well see what we have there . J.C. seems not to be a big fan of Subban - oldduffman
I'm with you on this. If Crow is out, I'd much rather see what Subban can bring getting the lion's share of the playing time. He performed better in Vegas when he had a string of starts. He was a first rounder for a reason. Maybe Waite can bring something out of him. |

Who are you going to blame for starting this?
Can't be me.... - StLBravesFan
This is a hockey board. Hockey is re-starting a season that was interrupted by a disease, and could be threatened by the disease again. Talking about the ramifications of health policy on the hockey season is not quite the same as getting all mad at a 4th of July political speech that has zero to do with hockey and posting your opinions on a hockey blog (and then getting cranky when others answered). You know that....I hope. |

Either the virus spreads when people are close to one another, or it doesn't. If it is safe to protest or riot, it should be safe to go to religious services or to a hockey game. If it is unsafe to do the latter, it is unsafe to do the former. - mohel
Umm sure, i never said it was safe, never will. Personally people want to go to church go, they want to protest, protest. People want to be in denial be in denial, everyone has to lead their own life. I will take precautions and follow my own safety protocols and with some luck no caronus for me

Agreed. Hopefully that attitude allows the hockey season to continue. |

I've been following the coronavirus pretty closely, as I have no interest in getting it, and I've lost 1 co-worker, and my boss lost both his brother and brother-in-law.
So based on the legit medical professionals I've followed, here are a few things we know:
- highly unlikely to get it from touching something an infected person touched
- unlikely to transfer the virus from short term contact with an infected person
- much more difficult to transfer the virus outside, due to the dispersion in the air
- co-morbidity is the leading indicator on fatality, the most fatal are: 70+, diabetes, heart disease, obesity, asthma
- most likely transmission is extended (varying studies from 15-30 minute minimums) contact with an infected person/persons in a confined environment, thus the outbreaks in nursing homes, cruise and military ships, within family members, at bars, at parties, in churches, etc.
- the virus breaks down quickly with soap and water
- best advice to prevent infection, stay 6 feet away from people, wear a mask when you can't stay 6 feet way, don't touch your face, if you must touch your face, wash your hands thoroughly for at least 30 seconds or use hand sanitizer.
- hand sanitizer kills the virus on contact
- soap and water breaks down the virus, thus the thorough 30 second recommendation |

I remember the good old days when they were comparing this to the flu and traffic accidents.

when do players have to sign there ELC by to burn a year? the Russian goalie signed the ISLES and then burned his year and then signed a extension for next year. Is this what will happen with Pius Suter. IE sign now burn the year and get a slightly bigger deal for next year? also are we sure Mitchell is not burning a year. I know I heard they have not. What about the kalynuk? I think to burn the year they have to be on the practice squad for the startup correct?
if Mitchell stays on his 3 year deal and kalynuck and suter both sign and do not burn the ELC that would be a pretty solid off season. |

That is the most logical post I have ever read on this website. What is it doing on here? Don't you know, the virus supports BLM, so it wasn't active during all the protests, and the funerals of George Floyd.

The good news is that the medical community expects multiple effective treatments by fall. Quite a few are already in 3rd phase trials. They will will be more effective than the current anti-viral drugs like remdesivir. They are also finding steroids to be effective. The new drugs will likely be used in a 'cocktail' that will greatly reduce symptoms and fatality.
The quest for a vaccine is on pace to yield multiple effective vaccines by the 1st of 2021. The 1st vaccines will not be effective as ones that come later.
The goal is to get to the 70% 'herd immunity'. Then we can take off our masks and return to normal. Hopefully in the 1st half of 2021. |

I really hope so. I do know it's be scared poopless if they told me they were going to put me in a coma because it would be my best chance to survive this.

43 out of 500ish isn't all that crazy. Testing positive doesn't necessarily mean they have symptoms either. |

The actual mortality rate may not be that far off except if hundreds of millions people get infected the actual amount of people who die will be significantly higher. Even China with their dictatorship can't seem to control the spread by locking people down at gun point.

But they probably can transmit the infection to others. |

Honestly i can understand why they didn't incite the protesters anymore. The protests are the reason we are going to have a spike, so is 4th of July holiday, but mainly because people are in denial. Politicians can't do anything right today. I have several police officer friends and they have showed me pictures of poop you wouldn't believe, but thinking it's just the protesters are the problem in this, the protesters who protest the protesters are just as big a problem. - BetweenTheDots
Most protests were a month ago, no spike from that.
