You're saying Nylander is better defensively than Dinky?
- rpeters01

I am. I do know that Strome, Dinky and Kane were getting crushed when they were together.

It's just the greedy players wanting more money.....
- mohel

.I think if your a young player or a fringe player you better suit up or those greedy owners will take note and your career may end

Just guessing here , but is it possible Crawford has a underlying condition that was not known to the public and he has opted to not play for his safety ?

No, I'm pretty sure he was implying I'm an idiot for suggesting that line (92 17 88).

Though that was way too tactful for Elbows which makes me wonder if his daughter hacked his account again.

- HawkintheD

Nah. I would definitely call you an idiot. I was referring to Strome, Dinky and Kane as a line. It doesn't work.

May not be a bylaw but it sure is traditions ,something the NHL use to take pride in before the Bettman gimmick hockey took hold
- oldduffman

Until 1967, it only took 8 wins to win the cup, from 1967-1970, in order to allow an expansion team to vie for the cup it took 12 games to win, but the Stanley Cup finals was between the winner of the original 6 and the expansion team, not exactly the 2 best teams.

On a sidenote Bettman might have wanted to avoid a lawsuit, so that any beer league could sue to paly for the Stanley Cup.

I would push Wirtz to pay off the team that plays Pitt to throw the games, score into their own net even. The entire thing is a scam - might as well place side bets on the games and fix it even more than the league is already.
- powerenforcer

Like I said about 10x's, stupid for deHaan and Seabrook to play let alone any of our good players. If we're planning to loose, let Rockford guys play Rocky gets paid the same.

Don't have a clue what is ailing Crow .I consider Crow the ultimate warrior and believe it must be serious if he out .If it because of concerns for the virus and his family I would respect him even more then ever .
- oldduffman

Hope it is not health related with Crow or that he is totally out of shape right now.

But for sure his agent will have reminded him that he is a UFA in a couple of months and maybe after talking to you decided he didn't need anything to do with a summer pee wee tournament.

Wow watching the news Ontario reopening moving to stage 3 .Sports teams can resume as long as there isn't any contact between players . Well that should make this so called playoff as entreating as a All Star game .

I have to disagree .The Stanley Cup is awarded to the team that plays a tough regular season and then engages in Post Season immediately following the conclusion of said season . Not 5 months after the season stop play. Not in two arenas playing a Pee Wee tournament format . This is a sham playoff and more resembles a Canada Cup tournament .

If this circus as you call it (the players obviously don't), helped buy a 4 year extension of labor piece even with substantially reduced revenue streams, instead of fighting to agree to a new CBA next year, I am all for it.

He might do occassional drugs and or pot is legal. So if he does so what if he keeos it under control. He appears to do some partying when concerts are in vogue. Biut i suggest that Covid19 is more likely the concern.. I do not believe that he had another snowmobile accident, you know.

Before 67 they had 6 teams even after that they only had 12 teams what were they suppose to do . One thing they had in common was they played at the END of the season . Not 5 months later .
As for the beer league that was a protest action taken after the very greedy owners shut down the season ,they wanted to show the owners they don't own the Cup.

Could be, we are all speculating (one of the reasons we are on this board). My grand conspiracy theory is that Crow (and the team) want to keep their options open if by some fate or luck they win against Edmonton without them, than Crow would still be eligible to play in the next series if he wants. If he opts out he is done for the tourney. There is no harm in this, not like he is blocking a goaie that would have a chance of getting into a game anyway.

Phew!

I agree in that I don't think that line works either. On that same line with Nylander, I thought they looked pretty good together. Maybe it was just me but I thought as a whole they were battling, coming away with more loose pucks and extending O Zone time.

Was only a couple games but worth a bit longer look...IMHO.

They also scored a lot and played some of the most entertaining hockey that team has seen since Panarin was in the line up.

And my point is that times and circumstances change. I just don't accept your premise that it is an affront to Lord Stanley to play for his trophy. For the Hawks to win, they would have to win 19 games, and possibly play as many as 33. Is that not long and grueling for you? The players association has agreed to this and 4 more years of labor piece.

And as long as there is (was) a chance to have the playoffs, there was zero chance that the league is going to miss out on the broadcast revenue that they will receive. Or else how does a salary cap of $75 million sound to you. The NHL is to get $200 million from NBC for the US national rights 109 regular season games and 80 playoff games.

And what happens if G-d for bid, we have another serious outbreak of COVID, or another pandemic type catastrophe, and the NHL has to shut down again next year? When would it then be acceptable to play for the Cup. Or maybe we should just lock it up in storage, and get a new trophy and start from year 1?
